What a debacle; missed him by one pick:The Black and White Lion wrote: It's a sliding door moment we missed out on Josh Weddle!

18 Josh Weddle Hawthorn Oakleigh Chargers NAB League ←Sydney (draft)←Adelaide (2021)←Melbourne (2021)
19 Ed Allan Collingwood Claremont WAFL
If Ed Allan becomes yet another bust-pick; i'll be ruing this one even more...
Weddle would have been perfect heir-apparent to Murphy too.
Now we have to scour over-priced, under-performing SPUDS from other teams to replace him....

Make Treloar a pie again! Loved Treloar…and he loved us and the CFC. His unceremonious departure was a travesty and along with Noble, Grundy, and Tay, I truly felt sorry he wasn’t part of our 2023 success. Not sure he would want to come back though, but it would be poetic if he did and we snagged number 18! Go Pies!lazzadesilva wrote:How about getting Treloar back?

Hoping Ed comes good but from what I’ve seen so far he has all the attributes required but there’s just something missing and he seems a fair way off AFL level. Should be ripping it apart in the VFL. Reminds me of early days Josh Daicos when his talent was evident but he just couldn’t put it together. Hopefully, Ed works it out soon as did Josh…could well prove to be a worthy pick or maybe we should just cut our losses ASAP….piedys wrote:19 Ed Allan Collingwood Claremont WAFL

Honestly watching Allen in the VFL he has the moves but he's played in tight in the middle too much. He's a skinny ar$ed tall with too high a centre of gravity. He's pushed out of the contest or off the ball too easily by stubby VFL players. Keep playing him like that and he will be in WAFL colours in 2025.Said by Zed wrote: Hoping Ed comes good but from what I’ve seen so far he has all the attributes required but there’s just something missing...…could well prove to be a worthy pick or maybe we should just cut our losses ASAP….
I reckon he's played out of position. If he is our best on the GPS what the hell are we doing bogging him down in the middle. Give the kid a wing and let him roam. He will do his damage on the run burning the slow coaches and outdoing the stamina kings.
I think we really need to give him a chance.

Yeah, you’ve got a point there. When we picked him up all the hype was about his speed but haven’t seen any evidence of that so far….endurance yes. Needs to get a good supplements program, really spend some time in the gym, learn from Pendles and Sidey as much as he can, and give it a red hot go next year. Lots of up side if he can.The Black and White Lion wrote:[^

After Christian Petracca's medical issue comments twice on his own social media last week and today on Nova radio, I'm going out on a limb by saying he is gettable on the open market if another team can trade for him.
The media says he's on an extended deal to 2029. Based on the Dees cultural implosion, drug, medical and welfare related controversies over the last 2years I think he's sending a message he's prepared to leave if someone wants to come and get him. Why else would go out on his own with big reveals without the club knowing.

Look, plausible hypothesis, but there's another alternative.
He already has (apparently) a high social media profile, he's loaded with painkillers, if he wants to put a message out there it likely wouldn't occur to him to go through the club and go through all the bullshit getting a media release approved when he can just do it himself with no consequences as he's not saying anything controversial.
Players do it all the time, it doesn't necessarily imply that he's more gettable.

Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.
Some positive news for the club today, The AFL have just approved players who have been forced to retire prematurely, will now have a significant percentage of their remaining contract removed from the clubs salary cap ( up to three years max ) Nathan Murphy’s premature retirement and the AFLs new ruling means we will now officially have more cap space than we would have likely planned for.

Yes fair point Stui. Maybe I wasn’t exposed to his openness outside the club. Not much time for social media outside Nicks.stui magpie wrote:^

But indulge me for a moment Stui. McLuggage said no. Many others said no and have re signed with their incumbent club. We’re still in the hunt for Bailey Smith but who knows what trade value will be extracted. Given 2025first rounder for sure which impacts Thomas McGuane father son. With the new bidding system coming seemingly in 2024, we might be trading our future 2026 first also given we drafted Allen as 1 in 4. I’d expect something back from the dogs but no guarantee. Go with me but if we’re handing over 2 first round draft picks again would you prefer a piece of Bailey Smith or a piece of Christian Petracca?
