They are targeting the Carton game so that would make sense easing him through the VFL.

warburton lad wrote:I think McStay's comeback will be very measured.

Half a game at centre half back in the VFL
Followed by three quarters of a game at centre half forward
A third and final match in the VFL at Centre Half forward

If he gets through that unscathed, he comes into the AFL programme..

Interesting to see Melksham ( who did his knee during last season, rather than the pre season like McStay ) has been picked to come straight back into the Dees seniors. I guess the theory is if the knee is structurally sound and you’ve trained the house down, there’s no real reason why your comeback game couldn’t be straight back into the ones ( I’m not suggesting we should do the same )
It’s a credit to McStay to have rehabbed so strongly, that he’s on the verge of a comeback well inside of nine months since he did it. It’s also going to be a nervous next few months for supporters every time he’s involved in a contest.

Great news , we have really missed the big fella. A forward line of him, Krooooge, Checkers, elliott, Hill, and say , Richards, would have to be a nighmare for other teams Backlines.

What a positive story this would be. McStay back in the side, with Cox and Elliott not far behind. Noble back this week with Beau and Mitchell possible by the time we play Blues or Swans.

We can do this guys. McStays return will help lift the side.

If McStay is fit he should come slowly back through the VFL. Before that opportunity the longer he has to properly recover the better.

Given the state of our forward line McStay is not going to be a cure all anyway. Depending how we go over the next few weeks, if our season has gone down the gurgler then I would be inclined to put him in mothballs until next season, so he is cherry ripe to go in round one.
