Reef didn't get a go... come on Fly

Post by orie »

What was the idea of having a midget forward line , adding Reef to the team, then having him as a sub .
What a waste..
I had watched last years game against the cats and Reef kicked a few goals then. He adds a bit of height to us and Fly doesn't even put him in the starting side.
And he obviously does not like Ash Johnson. We saw what happened with Ginni if thats the case.
We have nothing to lose by at least giving these two a chance with some consistent game time.
And sorry to be such a downer but Schultz and Hill cannot work in the same forward line.
Hill has become selfish and showy.
Sad to say.

On a positive... LOVE having Jamie back... First game and still a star.. Bit on the skinny side but works just as hard as ever...

Getting a bit done with Hill.
Got all the hall marks of all for show and no go.
Does alot of moves all for nothing.
He forgets there are other players in the team.
As for Reef i feel for the bloke and could be a case of telling the club that look im not getting much of a go here im going to another club.
Sad.

Completely agree. WTF is going on with Fly? How the hell can we find out what these kids have to offer is we don't play them? We are not going anywhere near the finals this year, so play the kids. Drop the underperforming stars. Send a big message.

Unfortunately Fly is an obstinate optimist. They are only good when things are going well. Only a pessimist and realist can save you when the going really gets tough. Unless he changes his coaching style one flag is all Fly is going to ever get. Period.

Schultz had a couple of bad brain fades, one late in the 2nd when he did the quick u turn snap instead of dishing off to Billy. The other one was the deer in headlights moment with 5.00 to go in the 3rd when he got the ball at HB and just panic kicked to no one. I agree we have too many small forwards not really having an influence but I would have subbed off Schultz earlier instead of when he was concussed.

Jeeezus, potting Fly whose record with us is ****, is just unreal Come on, we have the second longest injury list n the League, long term ones, only the Tigers have more, and they are rock bottom last on ladder. Fly got us within a point of a GF, then won the flag following seas
en with a near fully fit team, makes ALL he ****. Does any one think with our best side in, we would have drawn with Freo, lost to GC, lost to Dons (played shit but only lost by 2 goals,) and if McStay, Checkers, Cox, McCreery, Howe played v Cats, be a very different match. All teams get injuries, but ours have been unending this season, one back, Jamie, then lose two more , Shutz and maybe Daicos. To say Fly is a one flag coach, is one of the most stupid, inept, dumbshit, morose moronic statements Ihavever heard, by jeez, the white ants are out in force now and how pathetic you truly are.

Reef trying hard in the VFL without really doing much. Running too close to opponents then releasing poor disposals.

Those couple of drafts are looking really shaky for the pies. Players either not getting a go or simply not good enough to play obstinate roles.

I thought he was ok, especially in the second half. He’s playing all over the park and he worked really hard up and down the ground. Took a couple nice marks on the outlet and his follow up work was impressive. Field kicking wasn’t great on occasions but that was usually after multiple follow up efforts. Johnson didn’t touch the ball today, so if they’re looking to decide between either of them this week, then it can only be McInnes.

I liked one effort in the last (I think) where he got the ball at CHB, ran through the middle pulling away from two Geelong chasers and hit Crocker with a lace out pass.

He's got a long stride when he runs so he doesn't look as quick as a little bloke pumping short strides but he's clearly quick enough. Also took some nice marks.

Definitely ahead of Ash.

AJ not playing AFL has nothing to do with not being liked.
He is just not showing much in the VFL. Last week he was good, today very average.
People need to take some time and watch the VFL.

Reef is good when backing himself running straight at the ball.
Sometimes has the turning circle of a bus but that may be also due to trying to get space on his opponent.

Playing him the middle in the VFL has been good. See if he can get some variety in his game as he has the skill base.

It’s utterly depressing that we don’t have our first round pick… otherwise there would be more tanking than Tienamen Square on the run home.

McInnes should be started every week from here. He has a point of difference. Good to hear Demattia looked good today - would love to see him debut before seasons end.
