You're all gonna think I have a personal grudge against Mike now. But maybe I do... Read this. This is crap. Instead of saying Licca and Molloy had outstanding seasons, he rips Bucks apart. Bucks averaged 26 possies this year - and I'd swear he had more affective disposals than Ben Cousins - the next best thing with his 600 odd disposals for the year, pity he couldn't kick them straight - he is an out and out legend. Mike says, in all his infinite wisdom "Buckley is the only Magpie in MY top 50 players for 2001, and he's at no. 8.." Well then, he MUSt be the 8th best player in the league, and no other Collingwood players deserve a mention, cause Mike's ALWAYS right. Moron. He cant back down cause he's too bloody arrogant.
Don't worry waht this a..hole says Bucks, I reckon you had a stellar year, played your guts out and that's all we ask at Collingwood. Love the club, bleed black and white, Pies for Premiers 2002. Suck on that Mike.

Season 2001: Buckley's and none
By Mike Sheahan
Saturday, October 06, 2001
NATHAN Buckley must wonder what else can go wrong in his football life this year.
Collingwood missed the finals yet again, finishing ninth this time, one win shy of a spot in the eight.
Seven days ago, Brisbane, the club he abandoned so he could ''play in finals'' at Collingwood, stormed to the 2001 premiership.
Finally, last night, he finished an embarrassing third in Collingwood's best and fairest.
The All-Australian winger finished behind Paul Licuria and Jarrod Molloy.
It was inconceivable to outsiders that anyone other than Buckley could win the best and fairest, as he had done five times before, including the past three.
Excluding a fourth in 1995, it is the worst result from his eight seasons at Victoria Park.
Buckley was 6-1 second-favourite in the Brownlow Medal after Round 15, and 16-1 and eighth in the betting at the end of the home-and-away series.
Admittedly, the bookies keep him safe because of the weight of money from Collingwood supporters, but he was seen to have a solid year before trailing off in the latter stages.
Perhaps the match committee is trying to hammer home a message about the way he plays. About recurring flaws in his game.
Whatever the motivation, Buckley's 526 possessions (14 goals) while carting round the opposition's best stopper each week has to be seen as a weighty contribution.
Not Buckley at his best, perhaps, yet still a solid contribution. An average of 26 possessions a week.
Licuria is an honest toiler who gets plenty of the ball (499 possessions), but his win says more about match committee frustration with Buckley than Licuria's sudden elevation to elite status.
While Molloy made a significant impact at Victoria Park in his first year, he, too, tapered off significantly.
Buckley is the sole Collingwood representative in my Top 50 most valuable players of the 2001 season, and he is listed at No.8.
Best-and-fairest results are fascinating events.
Anthony Koutoufides couldn't win at Carlton last year when clearly he was the player of the year, yet he wins this year after a season that was solid rather than brilliant, and after Brett Ratten had what was seen as a stellar season.
We concede that no one knows their players better than the coaching staff, but...
Whatever happens from here, there can be no bigger shock in best-and-fairest results this year than the one produced by the Magpies last night.
Pies for Premiers 2002, 3, 4, 5, 6....
My favourite person.

All I have to say is, it's about god damn time that people in the media pull their heads out of the sand and wake up and relaise that their r other players at collingwood and the team dosn;t just consist of ONE player!!!!!!!!!.
Well done to all the players who polled in the copeland trophy!!
Jarrod Molloy RULES!!!!

yeh i read that article in the paper... Yes Mike, We are a one person team, we cant win without Buckley (even if there are 7 other players in the afl better than him). Oh and yes Buckley is having such a bad time lately, i mean finishing 3rd in the club B&F is really just a shocking performance... he should be ashamed mike.
Personally I think Buckley would be rapt with the Copeland result. It proves that Collingwood are going places after years of nothingness. It shows that other players have risen above mediocracy and we are a "TEAM" not to be taken lightly any more.

Who the hell does Mike think he is? Some sort of untouchable football god who knows all! Did he even attend the Copeland? I just wanted to mention a few of his comments.
"Nathan Buckley must wonder what else can go wrong in his football life this year".
It may not have been Buck's best year but he STILL had a great year. He nearly led his team into the finals which is fantastic considering our ladder position in recent years! His departing Brisbane decision was YEARS AGO! And what the hell is so embarassing about finishing third in a prestigious award like the Copeland Trophy. As a Captain I would imagine it would be a proud moment to see your team-mates doing so well.
"Perhaps the match committee is trying to hammer home a message about the way he plays".
CRAP! If the match committee had a problem with Bucks they'd sit down and discuss it with him, not play stupid games with best & fairest voting! And how dare Mike suggest Lica won only because the match committee wanted to give a 'message' to Bucks!!!
"....Licuria's sudden elite status."
Is Mike saying Bucks is the only elite player we have? He obviously doesn't watch any other CFC players!
"...Molloy...in his first year...tapered off significantly".
And of course Mike knows exactly what tasks the match committee gave to Jarrod each week. His possessions may have dropped slightly in the last few weeks but he still continued to work damn hard!
"...there can be no bigger shock in best-and-fairest results this year than the one produced by the Magpies last night." AND "Buckley...seemed a certainty to win a record sixth Copeland Trophy this year"
What planet is Mike living on? This BB is proof that many supporters thought Buckley may have a fight on his hands in winning the Copeland this year!
"However, the hundreds of guests at the Crown's Palladium Ballroom for the count last night were shocked by the result."
Did anyone see Mike on the night? If he was there then he saw a very different reaction to the one I saw, as the majority of members/supporters I spoke to were thrilled for Licuria and expected the final result would be close.
How can anyone write such obvious garbage? You'd think a journalist would at least do a little research before putting pen to paper. He obviously wears blinkers where the CFC is concerned and only sees what he wants to see.
Reading such crap is infuriating!
GO PIES!

What a ridiculous article. Jack Hill the Blind Miner could see that this was going to be the most open Copeland in many years. Bucks carried injuries for nearly the whole season. Despite this he still had a great year.
I think it's about time for Shite Mike to be relegated to writing about ski-ing. The winter Olympics must be due about next year. Mike should be sent to cover them. I'm sure, as a Melbourne supporter, he'd be an expert. He obviously knows jack shit about football.

Perhaps Mike should pay a visit here and read what we have collectively written re player performances and even Coopeland predictions.
I posted in a thread that it was great that we had predictions other than Bucks and that they were quite diverse. Well guess what, some of us were righrt and some of us were wrong. Isn't that a much healthier position to be in than if we were all right because there was only realistic chance?
Forget Mike Sheehan, just smile at our list and enjoy the ride. As someone said last year - the ride of your life. It has started already!
