I reckon Checkers is a good chance of returning before the last round.

For all those that have been blaming injuries alone for the below expected performance this season, the injury table published in the Hun provides another perspective.
We are third for the total games lost to injury over the entire list, behind Richmond and Carlton.
They have also calculated the total games lost for the "best 22" (whatever that may be) and on that list we are the 7th worst, behind Richmond, Carlton, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hawthorn and Melbourne.
Carlton's fitness head has just been shown the door as a result.

That's a very optimistic outlook. I thought broad consensus was he would miss the rest of the season.lazzadesilva wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 5:27 pm I reckon Checkers is a good chance of returning before the last round.

Ok, before the last round maybe too optimistic. However if he is a good healer, maybe a return before the PF maybe more appropriate, if we make it that far. But lose tonight and it’s mothballs for sure.

Looks like we’ve lost Double H, Ash and Eyre for a least week. All injured before half time in the VFL today.

Sad news for Double H. Hopefully he can escape the ACL and it’s not as severe after the scans

Ash Johnson was concussed in the VFL. Fella that did it suspended for a month.
Could be the last time Ash plays for Collingwood...
"Respected fitness boss Andrew Russell told the club last week he would retire from football, with Carlton adamant the decision was in his hands."

injury update ahead of the Magpies’ Round 23 against Brisbane
Collingwood’s Head of High-Performance Jarrod Wade has provided an injury update ahead of the Magpies’ Round 23 against Brisbane on Saturday.
RECENT UPDATES:
Harvey Harrison has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024 AFL season, with scans over the weekend confirming a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee.
The 20-year-old sustained the injury during a non-contact movement in Collingwood’s Round 20 VFL match against Sydney last Friday
The forward will consult with the surgeon this week to determine next steps.
TO BE ASSESSED THIS WEEK:
Josh Eyre sustained a corked hip during Collingwood’s Round 20 VFL game against Sydney last Friday.
The 21-year-old tried to return to the field but was unable to run out the match.
The forward will need to complete mobility sessions throughout the week to be available for selection.
Iliro Smit continues to work through the AFL’s concussions protocols.
The 19-year-old will need to complete both non-contact and contact training this week to be available for selection.
OTHER UPDATES:
Aiden Begg continues with his rehab program. The 21-year-old has been taken off running sessions after experiencing some swelling in his knee.
Jordan De Goey is progressing well in his hamstring recovery.
The midfielder has started his rehab program, completing some pool work.
Ash Johnson has entered the AFL concussion protocols after a collision with the turf during a tackle in the second quarter of Collingwood’s Round 20 VFL game against Sydney.
The forward has been cleared from any cheek injury.
Brody Mihocek is progressing well with his pectoral muscle recovery.
The forward has been cleared by the surgeon and the high-performance team to begin a light running program and will look to build intensity and volume over the coming weeks.
Tom Mitchell continues to work through his rehab program to return to football in 2025.
The midfielder has been completing an inside modified training program, working on building strength in his foot.
Oscar Steene continues to work his way through a rehab program for his toe injury.
The 20-year-old will look to increase his running programs this week.

Gee @LaurieHolden what’s with the yellow text mate? Very hard to read on screen, even harder on the mobile. It’s like looking at a bright light and trying to read the righting on the light globe. Is that the new formatting in the updated Nicks or what?

^^ The yellow text seems pretty good on my laptop, considering there's problems with most colours bleeding. I'm sure the rendering will depend on the device and won't please everybody.
There is a setting on Nick's where you can change to white background and have black text over white. Try User Control Panel/Board preferences.

13 afl listed players plus some afl standard players from vfl list.
Really there are no excuses for the vfl this week.
