Long term future. thats what it's about. I don't care if we don't win a premiership in the next couple of years. i want to be like the roos and both of the scum and compete in prelim. finals every year.
We will never know what other teams wanted for their "big name players".

I know this, all other AFL clubs a frightened by what Collingwood can become. The strongest club on and off the field.

That's why it is difficult to deal with anyone, they hate us and they are trying to keep us "in our place". It will not succed and we will prevail!

Alf, in general I agree with you. In this case, however, I think the need for a ruckman ready to fire in round 1 next year is just so important that something had to be done. As I said in another post - whatever it takes is exactly what is reqired.

Craig - I agree with you re taking a long term. But I would add that we have done that well to date and if you never take a risk you never reach your potential. Essendon proved this year that ruckman are still important and we ain't got one. You are also right that other clubs are frightened. Unfortunately they have been fightened for 40 years. Now I want them sream! It is within our capabilities.

I agree with ya ALF. I'am not too upset by it. I think there is a hell of improvement that will come from with in the list and I tend to think that it would have been a huge risk to let a scotland/Davis/ or anyone else go with a list so young and ever improving. The players on offer demanded we trade one of our class kids and when its all said and done I dont think a Trent Croad was worth a Nick Davis as stated by a caller on 927 this morning. That was laughable. I will want Collingwood to do everything possible to keep our core group of young kids and create the kind of Commraderie that has made Essendon and Carlton a power of the years.

Lets look at the pre-season draft an we might just snare a Misiti after all.

I'm a bit disappointed we didn't trade. We do need a ruckman, and another key defender. We never really know what's going on, so maybe they tried for players and missed out?

From the way it looks to me, I don't think other clubs really like dealing with us.

NO TRADE = NO PROBLEM.
There has been no team for years that has had a big name trade help them to a flag. Premierships are won from recruiting and fostering quality young players. Noel knows what he is doing and I trust him completly.

Also, unless we get a post from someone that was involved in the trading, we don't know what was tried and failed or why.

Success is coming - quickly.

Channel 7 news reported that a deal which would have seen Misiti
& Adrian Fletcher (Dockers) move to Collingwood was a done deal
until just before the deadline. Apparently it fell through at the last minute.

Re: Misiti deal. Apparantely Essenscum And Collingwood asked the AFL for an extension of time to do the deal but it was refused.

I'm with Alf and Magpira.
This meat trade does nothing for club spirit or club success.
Names don't win games.

So you want the President and committee to interfere with the match committee like they do at Dorkthorn? Sounds harmonius (not)!

Hopefully, Eddie kept well away from the nuts and bolts of trade week. I am sure if he let his head get away from him, we would have Everitt, but sensibly he left it up to the experts he has on the payroll.

No it wasnt electioneering at all.

I am honestly not too upset that we didnt do any trades as I have faith in the list we have. ALL I was doing was raising what he said in the past. The answer to this question would obviously be that times and hence priorities have changed. I personally perfer to foster our own talent (keep club spirit alive) rather than rely on mercenaries who play for money.

I AM NOT HAVING A CRACK AT EDDIE. He saved this club from being a permanent laughing stock and he will always have my vote as long as he wants the job.
