What? We traded pick 58 for 60 and 66 and now have 4 late draft picks?

This one better be good! I can’t wait to hear the reasons for this trade making our draft hand appear worse again.

Possibly positioning ourselves for young McGuane next year.

Some astute trading of picks as we did when Nick was due to come up in the next draft.

Previous picks total was 623
Revised total is 679

Provides greater wriggle room, enabling optiion to move for someone earlier which we've identified and may still be available.

So we've done a trade that gives Lions our pick 58 for their pick 60 and 66
Clearly something bigger at play here. With the aim to trade up the draft you'd imagine.

We can't take all 4 picks to the draft as we only have 3 list spots, so I imagine we'll do another pick swap on draft night

we feel our player is available at either 58 or 60, but we gain pick 66

Yes, we will likely package 2 picks and move up the order a tad, but we still have 2 more selections.

But what's in in for Brisbane? why do the deal at all?

60+66=226 points and 58 only nets them 170. Maybe they owe us.

So we’ve shared points with the lions to help them cover Levi Ashcroft and Sam Marshall. Are we going to try to trade up with our two picks in the 50’s and something else from the future? Or is it trade two picks for a future 3rd?

If the 2 picks are worth less than fhe Brions think they have enough already and are confident about when they’ll get bids such they don’t need the extra pick.

So we can take advantage. Then we can use them for something else if we don’t need the 4th pick either

Possibly it's for a future pick from another club or maybe an agreement with the Lions that if they run into points trouble we'll trade them back? Would this even be possible? The only other target I could think of would be with St Kilda possibly needing more to get their two Academy players in. An astute move or egg-on-face all round. Damn this draft day is taking forever...
