Two of the big under achievers for the year going head to head. Given that its the bulldogs and at Colonial it should be a fairly free flowing game.
The Bulldogs have an atrocious record at Colonial so that is one thing in our favour.
I would put in Walker and Shackleton with Wakelin missing through injury and Obree or Lokan being dropped. However this probably wont happen and if anyone is to feel the axe it may be one of our youngsters in Rowe or Swan.
In terms of match ups they should be fairly interesting:
Presti takes Rawlings - Last time round Rawlings had the chance to win the game for the Dogs but bad kicking let us and in particular Presti off the hook. Walker should be in this week to add a bit of insurance. Jason Cloke will be sorely missed down back as i think he was starting to develop into a player.
Fraser v Street and Darcy - Ideally the dogs will want Street to take the ruck contests so that Darcy can play up forward. If Darcy is up forward im not really sure who will take him? Perhaps Stunner will play in defence? Lonie played a key defensive role last time against the Dogs and may be forced to do so once again.Rogan should be able to handle the ruck contests and then drift forward and present an option.
Licuria should go head to head with West. This is the contest that will help shape the game as centre clearances at Colonial go a long way to determining the winner. I am hoping Shack or McGough get a game this week to help bolster our midfield.
I hope Rhyce Shaw gets a full game this week either as a tagger on someone like Murphy or gets to play on a wing. His game last week on a quality player like Akermanis was impressive.
If Brad Johnson plays up forward then Clement will probably take him. If Johnson plays in the midfield then perhaps Lokan the jack of all trades may be forced to take him or maybe a more attacking player like Ben Johnson. Imo the time has come for Lokan to cement a position in the team as at present he plays a few different roles but none of them very well.
Up forward the cupboard is fairly bare for us. Rocca is only half fit and may not even play. Even if he does play he is likely to be matched up on Grant who took him to the cleaners last time. Tarrant is under an injury cloud and wont play. Didak is still out injured. Cameron Cloke and Davidson our other young forwards are also injured. This means that Malthouse is going to be forced to have another make shift forward line which will include Buckley and Fraser.
However if we continue to play the bullshit brand of football where we over possess the ball go sideways and take an eternity to take the ball forward we could have Lloyd, Lockett and Dunstall up forward and we would still fail to kick a winning score. It would also be nice if our forwards led up the ground for a change as opposed to leading to the pockets and making life tough for themselves.
This is a game for the fringe players like Davis, Holland , Obree and Lokan to show that they deserve to be at the club next year.
Its definately a winnable game for us and im banking on the determination of Clement, Lockyer, Licuria and the class of Buckley to drag us over the line for a win.

Stoka35, Croft has been at the 'scrays his whole career - loyalty. He is still being paid as his contract is not entirely performanced based.
We will win because our defence will be more solid. The unit has been our one of only a few positive factors to come out of a season of calamities.
Even though no Wakes, Clement, Presti, Cole and prob Johnno will do the job. Where the goals are going to come from is anyones guess!! Most likely Fraser with assists from everyone else! I can't be there this week but I am alresdy imagining a tortuous replay.

It may be legal, but it was morally wrong to ask Croft to restructure his contract into one heavily loaded on performance then leave him to rot in the VFL, thereby lowering their total player salary payments. They have serious financial problems, but this is a pathetic way to go about dealing with it.
I find it interesting though that he has been told he will not be selected again this year. Not picking him because he supposedly isnt playing well enough is one thing, but isnt telling him he will not be picked regardless of performance arguably a breach of contract?

Yep, Rocca is out. Persistent ankle injury is the cause.

Interesting to see Crow as an emergency. I thought he was still on the rookie list.
