I've been absent for a while but I must say its good to be back at Nick's and involved in some constructive debate.

Mr Plow - I'm with you, Ukovic had a few clangers but I thought he was easily the most consistent Collingwood player over four quarters. Others showed flashes of brilliance but he was very steady. Regarding Sav, I also agree that he cannot possibly ruck for any sustained period of time. He can play one position only - full forward.

I reckon this game can almost be written off as an abherration. Don't get me wrong ther are lots of lessons to be learnt from this whole scenario, however even Bursy and Bucks were missing targets all night so I somehow think that the luck was always going against us. Having said that, when we finally got going after 3 quarter time the luck turned our way, Freo kicked 5 points in a row and all of a sudden started fumbling and missing targets - something to do with pressure I suspect.

Foxy - I must say that I am disappointed with your reaction to Wazza being dropped. Have I missed something? Have you guys had a falling out? Even though his performances this year haven't been the best, I reckon we could definately have used his pace out there on Monday night.

actually, i did notice that we seriously lacked explosive pace on monday night. wazza would've fitted the bill quite nicely i reckon. but from all accounts he didn't play too well in the ressies. i don't expect to see him back in the seniors for a few weeks. he needs to play some full games in the magoos first.

then again, MM might pull a shifty and put him back in the seniors this week!

Trickle, you have got to be kidding. THe white maggots have looked after you all year. During the last quarter look at how many kicking in dangers there were, Black got legged and should have got the kick and 50.
If it wasnt for the white maggots you would not have won as many as you have. you should be thanking them

Firstly I'd like to say I was very dissapointed about the game. However the comments by RT are correct. Did any of us expect to make ghe finals? If we do thats an absoloute bonus I remember a few peeople saying. The comment I make to supporters of other teams is that we are still young and they aint seen nothing yet. Something that most of them tend to agree with. (I'm talking about in the years to come). But I still rather make the finals than have another year out of the 8.

D'Pie,

I suffered severe depression that night and for most of the following day.

Does anybody know what the correct psychiatric term is for depression induced by seeing your football team lose? There must be a word for it. If not, it's about time someone invented a word for it. Because it's a very real psychological disorder.

Mystic,

Haselby's first goal in the last quarter came directly from a throw which even the commentators called.

Anthony Rocca has his head pulled off in the final term and Orchard's dragged down without the ball.

From an Umpiring POV, it was pretty terrible all round. I wouldn't say we had the better of it and my natural bias is to incline that we got the worst of it with several Fremantlian throws in the Final Quarter.

As for "being taken care of all year," I suppose that's why Anthony Rocca was not only reported for a minor indiscretion (against the Dogs), but the Umpire also gave damning evidence which sealed his fate. I've never heard such detail in an Umpire's testimony.

Umpiring's been crap the whole year, but I wouldn't necessarily say it's favored Collingwood.

i had a perfect view of the throw that led to hasleby's goal. it basically cost us whatever chance we had of winning the game. the umpiring was shocking all night.
