We might have been a lil hard done by on the calls. But the fact that they had more frees doesn't count for alot. There was some really sloppy spoiling sometimes in the backline but at least they had ago. Like Reece against Lappin happened a few times.

The second half reminded me of the Pies of 2002.
Tough, hard at the ball and going directly up the middle.
During the first 10 quarters of the year ANY side could get a flood set up as the Pies were alwyas going the long way home and their skills let them down. This then led to poor confidence levels.
Mid way through the third quarter (after some piss poor umpiring decisions) MM or someone - threw the switch and we went up the guts and wammo - goals, fast play, better skills.
Saw Shaw get the ball in the guts - 2 bounces and hit Taz - goal.
Cara to Magic - goal.
On Monday no doubt the video session will be spit into 2 sessions.
First half and then second half and it will be like a Jenny Craig before and after image.
Give the horses their head MM and let them play.
Maxwell and Rowe only git better the further the game went.
Cole much better in the middle during the last quarter - but too comlex on the HB line.
Well done Pies.

Umpiring...
Yes Clokey, you are entilted to your opinion on the umpiring but honestly I gotta ask if you weren't watching the Kangaroos game on a B&W tv. Here's the facts:
Carlton 29 free kicks to Collwood 17
Carlton 7 free kicks inside 50, Collwood 0
Carlton 5 goals from free kcks, Collwood 0
MM press conference, reporters asked what he though of the one sided umpiring.
Sportal, Fox Sports, Herald sun, AFL sites all mention the umpiring advantage at least once if not twice. It was frigging awful. Repeat, bloody terrible. Awful.

It was about time they turned it around! When they start playing as a team the timing and everything improves and at that point they don't look slow anymore. It's not a bad side they may not be favourites to win the Flag let's not bag them we need to support them, think of Johnno and Licca injured but there until the end. Anyway great win againts the Blues

Well I must say that that was the best 2nd half of football i've seen all year, and boy did it feel fantastic to beat those filth!
Listening to Triple M, Sam and BT were going balistic about the disgusting umpiring and the goals they got from the 'illegal free kicks' (now those words came from the commentators, not the supporters!) They demanded Geishan show his face and explain those frees. Most were given by the one umpire who at that time had not given one free to Collingwood, but had given 7 to the filth and 5 in front of goal, which resulted in goals.
Now apparently Eddie's dinner with the boys worked a treat. I hear a few home truths were told to the boys and obviously they took it all on board.
the greatest part, apart from beating the filth, was when the whole team came over to the Ponsford Stand and clapped all the supporters!
They were thanking us for sticking by them, something Eddie told them on Monday stuck with them and I believe they finally believed and did it for us.
Now Mick, are you happy with the boys this week? I am. They still need work, they need confidence and they don't need to be publicly dragged by the coach. The game plan in the 2nd half wasn't the game plan that's been played over the past 2 weeks.
Oh and Licca, how many possession did he actually get? BOG for me!
Shaw's speed was brilliant and needed desperately, he's improving all the time
So Proud of our boy Nick, he played a great game and should be there again next week, so should Julian Rowe, and Tex Walker

Thank god this is an internet forum, cos i dont have much voice left.
This is the way i saw it.
From the outset, collingwood kept things tight and didnt let carlton get too much free run. That was going to be the deciding factor as carlton had more pace through the midfield and the in form forwards. However Licuria, Lockyer, Woewoedin, Burnsy and co did not let one tackle slip which was important. That other important thing was the physical contests that were made by players like cole, rocca and Holland. Each left players sore but in a fair way.
Again the backline was rock solid, the inclusion of maxwell making it look even better. To hold fev to one kick by half time is a credit to presti considering the amount of ball that was coming his way. Wakelin and clement are true champions. They didnt let one mark fall. I said before the game that we should not worry about fevola and whitnall as our backline is solid, it is the forward line that would win or loose the match for us. When it started functioning, the result was inevitable.
The middle was an enthralling contest. One way, stevens was absolutely going crazy, however our midfielders were able to keep scotland, kouta and camporeale subdue. The efforts of licuria were truly remarkable. To see the dissapointed on his face when he was close to passing out on the bench in the last quarter was a true mark of a player proud to be in the black and white colours.
On the radio, Cameron Cloke was mentioned as one of the worst players on field. I am suprised by this. Although he was probably beaten by the inform barnaby french, his contests cannot go without recognition. He threw himself at the ball, and kept french accountable around the ground. Not to mention the 60 metre bomb in the first quarter to get things going. With the ruck stocks still to come back in, Camerons job was the most important today. What was needed was a solid contributor, someone who can do enough to get the 4 points on the board so we can have a building block when fraser and richards come back into the lineup. He showed great endeavour.
Admittingly, we looked best when rocca was pushed into the ruck late in the game. Again though it was roccas willingness to force a contest that was the difference. Thats all we needed, an honest effort. Both rocca and cloke provided that for us. Also both played a bang, crash style of play which kept us with a great physical presence at stoppages. Licuria and burns and ground level did the rest.
Tarrant, well what can you say. He showed us why he is a champion. He was beaten convincenly in the first quarter and i have to say i wrote him off for the remainder of the game. But to his credit he dug deep and found a way to win the ball in dangerous positions on the ground. What was the most impressive was the way he chased down an opponent to force a turnover.
Ben Johnson up forward was interesting but worked. Its what we needed. Players with good tackling ability to dissalow carlton easy rebound from our 50. We were able to force so many turnovers which resulted in goal scoring opportunities. Players like Burns and johnson made the loose man carlton had behind the play seem less intimidating. Also, big players like Whitnall and Prendergast were tackled well and brought to ground.
Rheece Shaw was impressive. His disposal is obviously still a problem, but he improved as the game wore on. He on a number of occasions kicked to a player, ran on a received the handball. His pace is essential in our midfield and he was able to hurt lappin in the opposite direction. His defensive skills must still be looked at. To be beaten by matty lappin in a marking contest is a worry. But mick thankfully moved him off lappin and shaw was able to be effective in the last quarter.
The second tier players were great. Rowe with 15 possessions continues to show he is the future of the collingwood midfield. I have also already mentioned maxwells efforts. Maxwell reminds me of rivers from melbourne, he has great guts and is willing to back into packs to take marks. Showed he could also play a run with role in the middle. Has good composure.
Im a knocker of Williams, however he served a purpose late today. He got 2 goals, and although he was in the right place at the right time, he still got the goals. If he consistently becomes a 2 goal a game player, he could be used as an impact player late in quarters. However consistency will be his concern.
I thought that Cole was better this week, however still has a lot to learn. Again he was caught with the ball many times and lacks awareness. However he did one thing today which made me so happy. He gave camporeale a solid hip and shoulder which left campa sore for the rest of the game. Thats what cole has to do. Become a bit of a physical presence in our backline, ala byron pickett. He has size and strength and seems to enjoy body contact. He has to unleash those bumps.
Ive knocked mick recently and will continue to until we become more direct but he got the team 100% right this week. The inclusion of maxwell was important as we needed defenders to cover the talls of carlton. Lonie wouldve been played as a key defender and wouldve been beaten again. Hopefully the time at willo will do him well and he can come back into a greater running role with greater endeavour.
Morrison should also get a mention for his shut down job on kouta.
We did what we had to do today. That was keep the game tight and win the tough contests. We played more direct and gave tarrant and rocca greater chances at marking. And they didnt let the team down. Rocca was inspirational.
My votes would be
3. Licuria
2. Clement
1. Rocca/Tarrant.
Other mentions are that davis when he was on looked dynamic, caracella kicked an important goal when we needed it which is his job, licuria is better infront of goal and woewoedin was ok.
Great we could do it for tarks.
Good old collingwood forever!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you boys - that is all I ask - passion, committment, hardness at the ball and the occassional foray into the corridor!
Oh and thanks very much you little tools in yellow - you inspired anger on and off the field - and it ignited us and despite your best efforts we bloody won!
Awsome feeling and noise from the Ponsford- waiting for the replay to see and hear just how good it was

Great effort from the boys. The commitment was ten fold compared to the last couple weeks. They played with a passion which was more from 2002-2003.
It was great to see the forward line firing. Contested marks and great accuracy in front of goal is what we want to continue to see from here on.
It was interesting watching our midfield. For all the talk about them in terms of pace etc, I thought we were excellent there and the disposal into the F50 was getting better as the game went on! I also thought we were great around the clearances.
Maxwell and Rose were terrific and it was good to see that youthful enthusiasm in the team.
It was also great to see the team supporting each other. Did anyone notice that when someone kicked a goal, heaps of players were around to congratulate.
The umpiring was an absolute discrace and if it wasn't for them, we would have won by about 8 goals.
