Scotty Burns....Port are after him!

Post by Joel »

Here is the article, I don't know if anyone else has seen it yet.
But please Collingwood don't let him go, but I would have thought Scotty would rather stay at Collingwood anyway.

Pies bid to keep
Burns

COLLINGWOOD is bracing itself
for a fight to keep vice-captain
Scott Burns.

Port Adelaide has made the
former South Australian a priority
recruiting target.

Burns comes out of contract at
the end of the season -- and
he'll go on show on Sunday
when the Magpies play Port
Adelaide at Football Park.

Magpie chief executive Greg
Swann said the club would have
talks with Burns' father and
adviser Michael Burns in South
Australia on the weekend.

It's understood Burns is keen to stay with the Magpies,
but Port is prepared to make him an enticing offer.

Swann said last night that the Magpies would present
Burns' father with an offer on the weekend.

''We are aware of the interest in Scott and that a club
finishing down the ladder can take him for nothing if he
puts himself into the draft,'' he said.

''We did the same thing last year when we took Shane
O'Bree from Brisbane, but we are confident Scott will
stay.''

Port also has its own problems with ruckman Matthew
Primus, who is coming out of contract.

His manager Scott Christiansen said a new contract offer
to Primus had been rejected.

''There hasn't been a shortage of interest from Victorian
clubs looking for a ruckman,'' Christiansen said.

''Port's offer is significantly less than what other clubs are
prepared to offer.

''Matthew would like to stay with Port, but he is also a
professional footballer.''

Primus, a grandson of former Geelong great Reg Hickey,
made his debut with the now-defunct Fitzroy after being
rejected by the Cats.

If we lose Scotty Burns we'll be even worse next year. As it is we're not worth a bumper when he's not in the team.

That wouldn't help us - but could we perhaps swap him for Wanganeen?

I would never want Wanganeen instead of Burns. Burns isn't someone who has the acting skills to win three Academy awards in succession.. which he doesn't need in order to get the ball.
