Interesting to hear that Tony Shaw tried to see what he could get for Sav. Where did he say that?
I am not surprised that he did not get much offered in return though, he is after all injury prone and an inconsistent performer. If we are trying to get rid of him, because of that, surely all the other clubs know that too.
I would like us to go out and buy a premiership contending team, but I think it is too hard in this age of the draft. Only, both, an astute recruiting and coaching staff can help us get there. They go out and get, then prepare the players. Unfortunately these are the departments that have let us down, and for that the administrators are ultimately to blame.
Hopefully the new recruiting staff, the new administration, and the new coaching panel has finally got us off on the right track finally.
1990 has been the only bright spark in two decades (OK the 1981 grand finalists count too, but that was the end of another era). All the rest has been lost years. It is amazing that we have got the support we do, it is a reflection of the quality of our barrackers.
GO PIES!

Why haven't Fraser Gherig and Chad Morrison resigned with the Eagles ? Why are Paul Williams and until recently Sav been kept on the ground even though underperforming ? Why have both Eagles players bought apartments in Melbourne ? Let's say that some of the Eagles better players considered MM a god and are prepared to travel over. Dont forget, while Malthouse was at the Eagles THEY CONSTANTLY HAD NO 1,2 OR 3 DRAFT PICKS. EVEN AFETR WINNING THE GRAND FINALS.

I would not mind Fraser Gehrig in the team.
But how can we be assured of getting him. Not the draft. Not unless we trade for draft spots (or trade players before the draft). This is what MM did to get Gardiner. I would expect him to do the same again. The only problem is, who do we have that West Coast want? Burns - never. Buckley - never. Tarrant - (hopefully never). Pebbles - (only if he wants to follow his brother). Sav - they have Cummings. Willow - they have the Materas and Cousins etc.
Hopefully MM will find someone that someone needs.

How disgraceful everyone is talking about Sav should be traded!!! Tony Shaw should be absolutely ASHAMED OF HIMSELF - to come out and say he tried to trade Sav last year!! My esteem of Tony Shaw has dropped since I read this in the Herald Sun.
How in the hell is Sav supposed to get confidence back when all this shit about dropping and trading him is going on!!! We're only half way through the season and all this shit is being said. GIVE THE GUY A BREAK!!! I hope he gets his act together and has a really great second half of the season and sticks it right up all the morons that are shitcanning him. Good Luck Sav. Just go for it! I still have faith in you.

OK guys, we know that Tony Shaw has become a bitter cretin, with his recent comments about Sav and actions towards Buckley but forget that. Don't forget that trades can be done with as many clubs as possible to obtain players (Jeff White took three players and four clubs to get to Melbourne). But I tell you all now, and criticsm will be accepted that Fraser Gherig is signed sealed delivered to Collingwod. As for Sav...MM seems to like big fat full forwards (Sumich, Ball, Cummings) so there is hope.

spidergirl..
spider's a legend, but he's injured and i can't see him coming to collingwood
but a player as big and strong as him or like him would do us the world of good, sav used to be that player but now since they've droped him into the reserves and he's lost his confidence we've kinda lost him

i totally agree
sav plays so much better when his confidence is up, and watching the reserves game yesterday.. it seemed as though he hasn't got much back from being in the 2nd's, he needs to be back in the seniors.. I know it's been said 100 times but he needs someone there to provide the ball cause his leads aren't as good as they used to be
anyway i'm probably just talking a load of #$%* but sav should be back in the seniors. that's what i reckon anyways
GO SAV..... I BELIEVE IN YOU

I've been a great supporter of Sav for many, many years and posted in his favour many times in these illustrious pages.
However, after watching him fumble, bunmble, fall over, and do everything except look like a footballer during the reserves v Frankston match, I am VERY worried. He no longer looks like he has any idea of how to play any position, nor any desire.
Is this the end, beautiful friend?
