That is pretty much as low as it gets. I am now seriously asking the question. Can MM get any more out of this group, I guess the answer is pretty much no! The senior players are playing well below their peaks of 2002-2003 and I really dont think we can get anymore out of them. Just watching them today, they are all pretty much going through the motions.
The reality is that only a handful of players can hold their heads up high being Davies, Yakka, Rowe and probably Shaw who all tried their guts out. The rest can hang their heads in shame!

Not wrong, we r very low as a group. MM can't get any more out of them, hopefully we do something this draft.

I think Josh went down after a contested mark in the second quarter.
Probably had some hyperdermic therapy at half time, and did come back after the break looking a little proppy.
I'm not sure of the exact stats, but i would be curious to see how many inside 50's we had in the first quarter and half.

Keeping Collingwood on its toes and a step ahead of the rest!

I think that Daniher might have actually had the balls to stand up to Malthouse hence he was blamed for everything and replaced with one of MM's boyfriends McKenna. Go figure!perthmagpie wrote:Scott Cummings, Guy McKenna, Andrew Williams, Chad Morrison etc. Do you think MM has too much power and influence in who we get? Can't we look outside of WA?

Also just returned from the game, Im very pleased i made the trip west again, at least my mum was happy to see me. The Freo crowd make me laugh, its like a fad, a yoyo, footy to them, mexican waves and that kind of crap its just not right. Looking forward to getting back to the 'G next week. The WA pies supporters are awesome, they were just gagging to yell and cheer but didnt get the chance, but they stayed till the bitter end, cheering all the way. Great effort.
Few observations.
- Apparently 16 fit men by the end of the game.
- Benny Davies knows how to get the ball
- Yakka has poise and can hit targets
- In opressive heat, Walks had to ruck 90% of the game also with a saw ankle, granted he didnt win many hitouts but he was rucking against a circus freak 20cm taller then him, old fashed Collingwood G&D
- Tarrent didnt get a go up the ground, he must be thinking along the lines of the great quote from Gallipoli "Buy a gun, shoot myself in the foot and go home"
Theres always next week.
What were they saying on TV?

It appears there is some merit to this statement. Unfortunately this is one of the worst traits of leadership a mentor can have. The ability to look at oneself and admit that he might just be wrong, may not be his strongpoint.I find it hard to bag Mick too much because I really like the guy, but his coaching moves just reek of stubbornness; like he's trying to prove some personal point.
The new Magpie Dynasty is just a season away!!

Well well - did not see that coming........... cannot find the words.
My thoughts:
It must be put in context - we missed Bucks, Rocca, Davis, C2, Richards, Presti and Johno from our best 22 and Fraser and Didak are clearly not match fit. Tazz is not right either and C3 and Woey were struggling today with injuries.
But ........ that was apathy in the extreme and there was one factor that did it to us ......... our midfield.
Our midfield is terrible and MM is responsible for it. There are no excuses and he cannot hide from them. They are slow, they are soft and they are very very poorly skilled. He has had the chance to change that mix of players in the middle and has not. Lets look at them;
Burns - He should be moved fwd or back or left as specialist interchange. cannot match the pace in the early going
Lica - Plenty of you love him as I do ........... but his skill level is woeful. He to should be forced back as backpocket or tagger.
Morrison - he is soft. He hates going to a contest, shits himself when he does and disposes of it likes he is holding a bomb. He should be dropped.
Caracella - woeful. apathetic and could care less about providing real contests. no passion.
Lockyer - started poorly and made some terrible stuff ups - but he had a go and kept on trying.
OBree - at least he had a go. Was not his best, but was not his worst.
Cole - just terrible. This guy does nto want to play footy. He provides no body contact and has some of the worst decision making I have seen.
Shaw - not a lot of kicks but you know - he had a red hot go. Cannot believe MM started him back. He is a midfielder.
Holland - must be in the gun. Ineffectual. Just did not get near it. His kicking is poor, he and Rowe kcik they are hitting a pitching wedge.
Rowe - many would think v good but he played on Mundy who got a heap of it. Field kicking is average.
I felt for the backs - the midfielders let Freo's just waltz thru the middle. Undermanned they were always going to struggle. I thought Maxwell and JC were ok, Clement was very average.
Fwds - they must do their head in. How many times did I see good leads result in kicks going over heads or sideways. Tazz and Didak had a real go.
I honestly felt our fwds and back battled hard - I thought our mids were just f&*ckin disgraceful.
Davies and Yakka were fantastic - had a real go and pleased we found two blokes who should play at least 100 games. Time to find more.
Out: Woey (inj), Fraser (knee), Cole, Holland, Morrison, Caracella
IN: Rusling, Lonie, Richards, Johnson, C.Cloke , presti

Was at the game and there were only 3 people who lead hard all day, Didak, Tarrant and Travis Cloke. Their leagues were ignored whenever one of them led to the wing and our backs chipped it around instead. The backs tried hard all day but with the lack of midfield pressure and the dockers better field kicking, they never stood a chance.
