Although I am happy that Judd copped the week and won't play against us, I really believe that some taggers in the comp are a real blight on the game and in some ways, Judd was justified in elbowing him!
Players such as Bucks have spent a whole career having their jumpers pulled by players such as Brett Jirk who don't even have eyes for the ball or the play!
As Bucks had to do, Judd will need to learn how to contend with them, however umpires really need to crack down on taggers that spend the whole game looking at the player and holding onto his arm or jumper! Taggers such as that have absolutely no interest in what is happening with the game itself!
The rules need to be enforced that taggers must beat their opponent to the ball first and look to win the ball first and foremost and that is the only way they should keep their opponent quiet!

Since we've been doing exactly the same thing, I can see no logic in your argument, spoljar. Yes, I have gotten angry seeing Bucks and Taz being held back, but our own taggers and defenders employ exactly the same tactics and I doubt there's a Collingwood supporter around who didn't enjoy seeing Presti grind Richo into the dust by being the biggest bloody nuisance on the ground last Sunday.
Whacking a bloke for doing it, though, just goes to show that he's succeeded in getting under your skin, so Judd is going to cop double and treble the amount of scragging from here on because every club in the competition now knows the tactic is highly successful against him. It rarely worked against Bucks because he just went on about doing his thing and trying to ignore it, so it wasn't employed as extensively as it now will against Judd. It kept him to half a dozen touches and now a suspension. You reckon every coach won't be licking his lips in anticipation of blocking Judd right out of a game from now on?!
My preference is to allow the goal umpires to call a free kick for holding the man. Don't change the rules or do anything drastic, just allow the goal umpires to call infingements and that will douse the issue altogether in the forward line.

Cannibal, I dont give a rats who they are. They can be a Holland or Shaw or Kirk, and as far as I am concerned, they should be penalised if they play the man.
As far as I am concerned, the players that are going for the ball need to be protected! The players that want to win the ball, need to be protected. Not the players that are constantly playing the man and spend the whole game watching one player!
