Well done Shawy and Eddie

Post by Damien »

Tony Shaw's resignation has been handled brilliantly by everyone involved at Collingwood. It is a relief to know that he will not go the way of Kevin Bartlett and Wayne Schimelbusch, where two 300 game club legends will not return to their clubs because of the way they were treated.

As Eddie keeps saying we do things differently now at Collingwood, but when you think about it, this is the way that Tony Shaw as an individual, has always carried himself, he has been as honest and open as the day is long since he first joined the club as a player.

I think he now needs to step away from any official capacity at the club for a year or so, as whoever the new coach is, will not want his predecessor looking over his shoulder. That doesn't mean he leaves the fold though.

Ediie hit the nail on the head when he said that Shawy has left the coaching position but he will never leave the club.

For once Mike Sheahan has got it right in todays press. Our new coach must be an experienced campaigner with a proven record of success. And he must be allowed to bring in his own coaching team, just as Leigh Matthews has done at Brisbane this year.

Right on. A Premiership Coach is what we need and he must be able to bring his own team. Fabulous Phil is the exception, but only if he can persuade Michael Tuck and Graeme Carbury to be his assistants.

I'm in agreenece with Phanto on this one. I think Fab Phil would make a great coach, he got Sturt of the bottom in the SANFL plus he's a Collingwood person which appeals to me even more. To be honest I don't think it really matters who coaches, the young players have talent. All we need is some guy to move the names on the magnetic board, the players will do the rest.
