agreed on some of my favorite youngsters u mentioned there - Roachy, Lyon (so impressive week in week out in the ressies) and Baynesey but i dunno how u can say junior Shawry has no heart. Leon is definately made of magic I am convinced he is a minnie version of the Wiz from Melbourne. What about Craig Jacotine though? and Jezza Sharpen?

maybe its hard for Shawry to put his body on the line cause hes such a little stick, a bit like Chippa and Tucks. Most likely Shawry will grow and fill out more over the pre-season then he can feel more confident full on throwing himself into packs, putting himself on the line, having eyes for the ball only etc etc. Surely his heart is there though because i have heard him talking about what an honour it is to wear the same number as his relos (the other Shawrys)

Yeah i think Craig might go too which is sad cause i love him and he hasn't been given much of a chance plus i thought over the pre season he really built himself up like a tank but sadly like too many others 2000 hasn't been their season.

Justin,

Reading your write-up of most players, we must have won a lot of games this year....hang on, just checked the ladder.

Something's wrong.

The AFL must have made a mistake somewhere - according to the ladder we've only won 6 games. How can this be?

THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION IS A RESOUNDING: "NO".

We will NOT be considering finals next year. We are likely to finish around 10th - 12th. This is the reality of a young, inexpereinced list withgreat POTENTIAL but in need of DEVELOPMENT and REALISATION (of said potential).

PS: what have you got against young Shaw? He is one of the brightest prospects in this team. To say he lacks heart and doesn't attack the ball shows a callous disregard for his age, size, shoulder injury (sustained throwing his body into a pack...with all his HEART) and a seemingly blinkered view of the way he has played at both senior and VFL level.

Broadie, you are so optimistic. Have you learned nothing this year?

We will finish 16th next year. We will not win a game.

But it's OK. We'll have lots of potential. And we'll be rebuilding. Everyone will be saying how good we're going to be by 2003 or 2004.

Ah, the old Collingwood optimism!!!

At last someone with something interesting to say on the BB.
What's happened to this place over the course of the year?
Last year we won less games but there was a feeling of solidarity here.
Now we get bucket loads of boring crap which insults us all.
Correspondents with insight and wit have disappeared to be replaced with bell ringing (OH PLEASE!!!!!!!)
short-watching, abusive and wrist slitting depressives.
I want sensible discussion and debate restored here.
Thanks for your time and opinions Justin.
But about young Shaw; I hear what you say, and you've said it a couple of times lately, but I just can't imagine a Shaw lacking courage....it's like Olerenshaw without injury or Richmond without the Bandwagon.
I think your assessment may come back to haunt you.
Now if you were questioning the courage and skill of say Wasley, yes, there'd be a few observers who'd agree.
Now where DID I put my bell??????

Alf, how about you stop being so pessimistic Image Things won't be always bad. The last 2 seasons have been real periods where we have actively recruited youth, before that there was nothing. You have to be optimistic, its better than feeling bad!

Hey, Nick the Pie Man,

I'm renewing my membership next year so that I'll have something to grizzle about next year.

Joel, why do you want to take my source of mirth away? Leave Alf to his clouded ponderances.

I, for one, ALf will be in your corner in 2001, ready to dole out the prozac when necessary.

Heathcliff is alive and unwell, barely living in Alf's droop shouldered misery!
