Well, CJ, sorry, maybe I was a little rough, but I'm afraid I get hot under the collar when I read someone saying "Stuff the Club" and I especially get fired up when Buckley's insulted. Does anyone think that Nathan would want someone to "go hungry" for him just so they could get to the Copeland etc... but you've gotta give me my point re: priorities.....
My opinion....please don't flame me...LOL

JBJ,
I agree with ya on a few things there.
It does really depend on your priorities. For me footy comes first before anything and everything! I spend heaps of money on footy stuff and not just at Collingwood but other clubs that i follow too. Like Alf I don't have a job but I dont get free money off the Government i am at school. I just save and save and save any money that i do get to put towards footy stuff that i wanna go to. So that is what ya do instead of just saying stuff the club. It's not like u are giving them money and getting nothing back cause the club functions i have been to have been heaps fun and definately worth the money!

OK, CJ, I guess I was apologising to the bulletin board, but it wasn't me that said "stuff the club" which is tandamount to treason. Yes? Also if Alfie re-reads his own post he will see that he did indeed insult Nathan by saying "why should I go hungry for Nathan Buckley he wouldn't go hungry for me".. and for that matter what has Bucks got to do with the pricing of functions at the club....why bring his name into it in the first place???

We're all in the gutter, JBJ ... but some of us are looking at the stars.
Yeah, I said "stuff the Club". And I stand by that inasmuch as the "Club" is defined as a money-grubbing corporate entity milking every last cent that it can possibly extort from its customers.
The "Club" that I believe in doesn't exist anymore. It has been hijacked by capitalist scum. They call us "members", but we're really only consumers. The only time they ever write to us is to put the bite on us for more money. More money to squander pampering to the whims of overpaid prima-donnas.
Perhaps it was unfair to single out Buckley. I could have substituted the name of any Collingwood player and the point would have been equally valid. In fact, it could have been any player from any club. Footballers are just footballers, after all.
It's not an insult. It's a statement of the obvious. No footballer would be willing to go hungry for my sake. Fair enough. I don't expect them to. But don't expect ME to go hungry for any footballer.
All I'm doing here is claiming my equality with the rest of the human race. No footballer is a better or worse human being than me. I refuse to put these guys on a pedestal they don't deserve.
And as for not sinking to my level, what makes you think you're any better than me any way, JBJ. It doesn't matter how much money you've got, or what kind of whizz-bang job you may or may not have. You are no better than me as a person. And I will not sit by and let you make condescending comments about my socio-economic situation without standing up for myself.
And when I say "stuff the Club" I could just as easily say "stuff every club". Because they're all the bloody same. And "stuff the AFL" for that matter.
A "bit old", am I, JBJ? I'm 45 years old to be exact. Old enough to remember when football really meant something.

No wonder we are losing with supporters as negative as this bunch. Alf if the AFL is such an evil capitalist instititution why do you follow it!! Its not compulsory. Some of your views sound almost paranoid. Isn't there anything about the club you like?? Its a pity the club needs to make money and I agree we are being ripped off, but compare this sport to Soccer for example, where you would not be able to go to a game without saving for a couple of months.

Oh, you mean the message in which I told you to go FLICK yourself (or something like that).
Hey, I'm in too good a mood to argue the point tonight. And no, I didn't go to the Club after the game. Hob-nobbing just isn't my scene.
Hey, this isn't fair. You know who I am, but I don't know who you are. Are you gonna do the decent thing and gimme a clue?
