I'm with you Magpiera.
When Eddie first flagged this idea a few months ago I thought it was a goer.
Unfortunately I was a lone voice.
Eddie's not stupid; he's out to get the best possible result for Collingwood...more money,
more members, more profile, more live coverage on National TV.
He's not out to fleece or disadvantage Melbourne Magpies; that would ensure his defeat at any future election.
Now I can't afford to travel across the country to watch the boys play...I went to Adelaide once and vowed I'd never place myself in life threatening situations like that again.
If we can trade Perth/Adelaide/Brisbane games
for 3 Sydey away games , probably against the same teams, we can only be better off.
A 3 ticket membership for Sydney members would be a help to the club and probably most importantly, it sows seeds for the future...in the next couple of years when we are successful, we'll already have a membership base in Sydney; we know there are heaps of Pies up there just waiting for the opportunity.
So yes, Magpiera, I'm with you, but it really troubles me that so many Collingwood people are so blinkered, narrow minded and 'anti' anything new.
Our club's greatness was built on having a go, and beating the others at their own game...and then some.
By the way Magpiera, who are you really?
One once regular correspondent here(very quiet lately)was,I suspect,a very prominent media person currently making a killing in Tassie. Now Magpiera , I have the idea that you have some official connection to the club.
Your postings often sound like Media Releases. How come???
Anyway, maybe we can be two voices in the wilderness here....although Magpie Greg and Justin seem to be able to upset the "Bell Ringers" a bit too. Poor old Newelly used to be able to do it too, but he's moved on to some Perth twilight-home for the demented.
I suggest we remain optimistic and leave eMMa, Spidergirl and Miss Magpie to weepily contemplate The Bums That Got Away, and Alf to pathetically wander the dark and deserted alleyways of Melbourne muttering to himself and looking ever longingly at each tall building and jealously eyeing smiling Essendon supporters, dreaming of what might have been.

I look forward to some lively debate on this topic at the next A.G.M.
I'll be there. I'll make a point of wandering through as many deserted alleyways as I possibly can to get there. And I'll be mumbling to myself, "No home games in Sydney ... No home games in Sydney" all the way.
