Feel sorry for sav the shortened pre-season didn't give him any time to get match fit before the season started and as a consequence he never matched expectations. I actually thought he deserved one more chance and with the extended pre-season he would of been ripe for getting himself in good shape for 2001 but the decision has been made. We do have full-forwards in Michael, Tarrant and Rocca A to replace him (and the possibility of Gehrig who played his best football under Malthouse). Still it would of been nice to see the two brothers play out their days with Collingwood and Sav has been part of the furniture at Collingwood it will be strange for him not to be there over the next seasons. I Wish him the best of luck for the future as from all reports he was a great person and it has hurt him to leave the club.

i never wanted to read what i saw in the paper today but i guess i had no choice and what he said about the supporters bagging him was very, very upsetting because it is just PATHETIC to have supporters bag someone like him who has been a great player for the collingwood football club.as i said before i wish him all the best!!!

Good luck to Sav. Although we could probably see this one coming it is still a bit of a shock to lose such a big name player who is such a big part of Collingwood. Supporters (especially those who claim they are Collingwood) who bag players to the point where it really starts to upset them shoud be shot and mustn't really know a thing about this game!!!!!!!!

I feel as if I've lost a friend.

The Simon & Garfunkel lament "Old Friends" has been going through my head all morning.

Sav has been poorly treated since Shaw took over. The club did nothing for his football learning and should be ashamed that such a great talent has been frittered away. Were he at ALMOST any other club, he would have had QUALITY specialist coaches at his beck-and-call.

Saverio, we wish you well in whatever your future holds. If it's at another club I may even "do a Spidergirl" and support you (but not the other club). I hope your NFL career is a goer, so that I don't have to watch you go for the ton in other colours.

We salute you, and what might have been.

hehe I like that one Broadie "might even do a Spidergirl"! If u are seriously a real supporter of ya fav player it shouldn't matter what club they r at, u should still support them... yes even if they go to scummy Adelaide or Caaaarlton. So if Sav moves to America are we all packing our bags and following him Image ?

It is a sad day. Sav still has an average of 3.3 goals and is one of four current players who has kicked over 500 goals. Sav's do not grow on trees. I hope they know what they are doing.

I am sorry for Emma and all his other adoring fans. When he was fit and on fire, he was devastating.
