You may or may not have worked this one out yet but it is becoming increasingly obvious that Magpie Greg assaults threads with his flaming with the express purpose of having it shut down and deleted so he can crow about it in a PM to whoever he disagreed with. I realise you cant ignore threads that degenerate this way but he is using the system to his own advantage at the expense of everyone that posts in those threads, not sure what you can do about it but thought you should be aware of it.
