Hey CJ I will be there with you. Can not wait for them to swap jumpers at the end of the game (saw it once an "Alas Smith & Jones" comedy skit, but it was with soccer).

Seriously. Parkins comment was about an exceptional woman Michelle Timms. Timms has always been acknowledged as having balls and talent. She would be able to be compete against guys at senior level, but she would not star. This applies for basketball and presumably football too (especially the way it is played now, soft).

Normally women loose the ability to compete against men once they start playing in the U/18's. But there would be some exceptional persons in every sport. Liek one in a million.

Broadie,
Brett Ratten came to watch us play (yes i know hes from scummy Carlton but still hes a legend) anyway me and my mate were rapt when we heard an AFL player was there and were even more rapt when the coach sent us down to the forward line right where Ratts was standing.

Mostly i play centre half forward and sometimes centre half back.

Well after winning all our first games we went pretty shit in the finals. The first game we lost by a point, we won the second game and lost the last one.

Yes i thought about the number 8 being a bit of a jinx and i also wore my Saints socks so that was another jinx but i don't care cause i was absolutley under no circumstances gonna play unless i got either the number 8 guernsey for Ricky or the number 10 guernsey for Spider. And guess what guernseys we had to wear...friggen North Melb (thankfully not orange ones)

And yeah i bet u guys would wanna come watch us chicks play in our little shorts and guernseys! Apart from being a good perve 4 youz some of us would be pretty good competition for most of u guys u know!

Hey Spidergirl,

Who do you play for?
and
How many goals have you kicked this season?

Also, how on earth could you possibly wear Norff colours? ya should have protested!!!

Finally, the comment that you made about some of you chicks playing better than us! Well, ya probably right, we would undoubtedly have 'OTHER THINGS' on our minds!!!

Thanks for that Spidergirl.

Is it a school or club-based league that you play in? I coached in a school-based 9-a-side competition in ALice Springs a number of years ago and it was very successful, but was discontinued as it could only be played at night (due to availability of limited grounds) and nights in winter there are generally around zero degrees...but the biggest problem was the cost of running the lights! Seems nobody in the town wanted to put in enough sposorship to keep them on, so it died. However, it did encourage older women to start a "league" (4 teams) in the last year I was there. NOt sure if it's still running.

I really can't see men & women competing together in ANY elite sport. This is not dued to sexism, but usually a basic biological / physiological thing: men are stronger, run faster, jump higher etc. than women in ALL sports. One of the Williams girls came out with the remark that they could compete (in tennis) against men. The challenge was taken up by a guy ranked about 47th or something. He beat her in straight sets.

AS for the "perv" remark, how would guys perving on girls playing footy be any different to some of the remarks noted in this BB from yourself, eMmA, etc - remarks that were so prolific that they saw the creation of a new forum?

I just play for my shitty school.
We only play a couple of games a year which is gay cause first of all it was mad fun and second of all we get out of school for the whole day, we even got to miss our year 12 mid year exams cause we were playing footy and didnt even have to do them at all, now how mad is that.

True Broadie about our remarks. Both the guys and girls would be about even in this department i think. But if you think the stuff we say on here is bad you've got another thing coming go to the essendon site and then you'll be in for a much bigger shock.

Equestrian? Can we at least have a sport that HUMANS compete against HUMANS in????

I fully imagine that men & women could/should compete against each other in shooting as well, but these "sports" do not fit into the conversation we are having here. These events are ones of skill, whereas the discussion about football/tennis/athletics/etc. is one of sports that demand skill, strength, stamina, etc - the whole range that separates men & women physiologically.
