The Official Pre-Game function at the Sydney Superdome was cancelled by the Club due to lack of numbers.

The Club sent a letter to all Collingwood and SCSC (Sydney Collingwood Supporters Club) members advertising the function, along with a deadline of Tuesday the 6th of June for people to indicate they were coming.

From memory the Club wanted 150 people, but by the 6th June deadline only about 40 people had committed.

The SCSC was consulted prior to the cancellation.

The Club had to make a decision on whether to invest the resources into an event that may not have got enough support and ended up costing them money.

At the end of the day the support was not there for the function (in its proposed form).

The Club and SCSC will try and work something better out for next year.

There has been some talk that the SCSC pre-game function at Wests may have been drawing support away from the Collingwood function at the Superdome as well, but that is not the only reason for the failure of the function.

The SCSC is very proud of our pre-game function which we have been running at Wests now for 5 years (and is well established, growing in support every year)... it also serves an important function in supporting the Cheersquad when they are in Sydney.

I want to stress that there is no ill feeling from the SCSC towards the Club, and that the SCSC is continuing to receive good support.

Tess is a good friend of the Sydney Collingwood Supporters Club.

Her efforts in the past, particularly at the Collingwood AGM helped get improvements in the support Interstate Supporter Clubs receive from 'The Club'.

We would like a 'joint' Collingwood and Sydney Collingwood Supporters Club function, but unfortunately were not able to achieve that this year.

I think there will be a good chance of a joint Collingwood/SCSC function next year.
