Supporters Choice Spot on the List

Post by Pie no sauce »

This sounds outreagous but just read it thru.

What if CFC were to nominate one berth on the full list as a "supporters choice". A vote could be held via BB's, emails, etc all over Oz and the World say between the last game and draft commencement. That in itself would generate an "attention event" and add further ooomph to the legendary CFC innovativeness and cheek. CFC are always able to show how they do it in their own way.

Imagine getting the big Savaloy back THAT way. What a story it would make and it would save everybody face to do it that way as well.

Another great spin-off of course is the tie-in between the Club and its' supporters. Somrthing extremely rare in the commecially oriented sports world these days.

Maybe I'm a bit myopic on this as an idea but I really think it is a goer.

Imagine.

What planet have you been living on for the last 25 years, Pie No Sauce?

What "legendary CFC innovativeness and cheek" are you referring to?

And what do you mean by the tie-in between Club and supporters?

The only "tie-in" between supporters and Club that I'm aware of is that if you turn up to one of those legendary Collingwood functions in Toorak with a lot of money in your pocket, and you've got a "tie on", they'll let you in.

By the way, I think the idea of a "supporter's choice" has got feathers on it.

The reason Malthouse sits in the coach's box, while I sit in N-11, is because Malthouse knows a bit about football, I don't.

The reason the recruiters and selectors get paid big money to make the big decisions, while I pay for the privilege of suffering the consequences is because they (theoretically at least) know what to look for in a recruit, and I don't.

Leave the recruiting to the recruiters. Leave the selecting to the selectors. Leave the coaching to the coach.

I'm all in favour of "power to the People" when it comes to off-field matters, but when it comes to the actual business of what happens on the field, supporters should just stick to "supporting".

Sorry, but I hate the idea! I don't want to see Sav come back, stop being so sentimental (?). I will miss him aswell but the decision has been made, so stop dreaming.

I have to agree with Alf and Joel on this one.

While I can put up with all the flack we would cop for this innovation, and while I personally would waste my vote on Gavin Brown until he dies, there are other things to consider like, the effect on the player when the coaches ignore him anyway, and salary cap issues (what do we pay them, what they want, or what they are worth?).
