Farewell to Rowdy as well...the last of 1990 is gone

Post by Broadie »

Just heard on the radio that Gavin Brown has also announced (=been pushed into) his retirement.

All the 1990 team are now in retirement. A sad day for Collingwood.

Have not got enough time right now to do justice to a Rowdy tribute, so I'll have to re-post later.

Only question...does thios mean we hav no players on veterans list? Do Willo/watto fit the criteria? (WOuld we want Watto anyway?).

Vale class of '90.

Brown has been appointed an assistant coach for next season, Crossica is hoping for the same.

ROWDY - What a legend you are - a true Collingwood Favorite Son. Glad that you are staying around the club . Perhaps some of your Loyalty , Passion and Courage will be instilled into our young Collingwood Kids. I really feel that you will be of great value to the club and will miss seeing No 26 out there trying his guts out! All the best and thanks for some truly wonderful memories.

I agree completely with Joel.

Rowdy is one of the most courageous footballers I've ever seen. And, at his best, truly inspirational.

Remember his first quarter against Carlton in Round 3 this year!!! Then he got injured, unfortunately.

His spirit says he's still a champion, but his body says it's time to go.

Time marches on ...

Thanks, Rowdy.

Spoke with Rowdy today and he doesn't know what he is doing after his playing days are over tomorrow. He wasn't pushed to leave - Collingwood wanted another year out of him but his body has had enough and he decided it was time to go himself.
Thanks for today , Rowdy, you were terrific signing everything and very patient with us ones who wanted to get our photo's taken with you. A BIG THANK YOU for everything and I am so happy to have been able to follow your Footy Playing Career. Good luck in whatever you decide and hopefully you will be involved with all the young Collingwood Kids and see success once again at our Beloved Collingwood! Bye Rowdy.
