Thats just one of the things with the draft. Sometimes it is luck of the draw!

Stupid award. Just like all the others in footy they r usually rigged and the ones who really should get it never do.

Paul is a legend but Brad Green has been waaaaay better same with Spriggsy and i reckon Chippa has been probably just as good too hey bec!

Not luck - RHYCE SHAW. I believe we used our 2nd round pick for him, thus prevented ourselves from picking up Ramunaskas (SP?). I have no regrets about this decision.

In any case, there is not just luck involved in the draft- look at Essendon. They have been consistently poorly placed in the draft, yet continually pick up good players because of their ability to spot talent / potential talent.

Thats not what I meant. I meant that some players excell more than others and sometimes there are players that are champions in junior footy but can't hack it at AFL level.

Ramanauskas was drafted in the first round, not the second round, so we could have got him.

You have to draft players under the father son rul,e with your first pick in the second round. I am sure it is not just your second pick.

Plus, he was drafted in Nicky Davis's draft not Rhyce Shaw's.

Greg J's right. Ramanauskas was picked up for the 99 Season and played a couple of games last Season (in 99). Rhyce Shaw was picked up for Season 2000.

But this should make your day.

Essendon picked up Ramanauskas with the Draft-pick we swapped them for Ricky Olarenshaw.

Well, doesn't that just highlight Essendon's crafty use of the draft and our DUD use of trading.

On the other point: would rather Ramanaskus or Nick Davis? Personally, I think Davis will be abetter long-term prospect, especially given his goal-kicking skills.
