,,,, without even going into the abbasoloootelly fanbluddytastic news that carpet-burns's light will be burning brightly at pie-land for some time,,,,....
,,,I was stoked to "read" the dulcit tones of Balmey echoing the most responsible and savvy strategy heard since the days of Jock McHale.
===============================================
Collingwood football manager Neil Balme said the Magpies were unlikely to snare Rehn.
''On the surface Rehn would be terrific for us. (But) you can't have everyone,'' Balme said.
He said the Pies would not be using Paul Williams, Mal Michael or its early draft picks in trades for big-name players.
He said Williams was contracted and would be staying at Collingwood unless he wanted to leave.
The only doubt about Michael was that the club hadn't agreed to new terms with his management yet, Balme said.
==============================================
1. Sav's a pssible direct swap - for free effectively, no picks or players involved. (much as it hurts me to speak of swapping Sav)
2. Sit and wait, with pick #3 we're bound to get gehrig or rehn or a top youngster - all head and shoulders over an above the pick we lost for McKee.
On another note, I'm sitting here watching the brissy-bluehumour game and itsa real ripper. Go Pies for 2001 maybe we'll have HAL instead of MAL.

Can we have that in writing please, Mr.Balme? In quadruplicate.
If that is true then that is the best news I've heard in a long time.
Does this mean Collingwood has actually learned something from the stuff-ups of recent years?
I say we should sort out a deal with Mal. Give him whatever he wants. Give him a half-share in John Wren's tote, if necessary. And all the women he can eat. And then just wait for that #3 draft pick to come up and pick the best player we can get, whether that be Gehrig, Rehn or whoever the next rave junior happens to be.
