Gone, but not forgotten Tessa....at least not forgotten by a dedicated core of the club. The overall consensus, in my view, is that the club should not waste it's time and money in chasing after something we will never have. Its so typical of the keyboard hero's not just from Nicks, but EBW and LSD ....365 is irrelevant! Hiss thats why I didn't bother having a go at you, it was obvious you had no intention of standing up at the AGM. I'm sure you went sitting in hope no-one knew just who you were..... or were you the host with the most
I think it's time the Club was forced to act on Victoria Park, we here at Nicks forced the issue on Interstate membership.
We can make the CLUB Listen to us.
Frankly, standing in that room and looking out over that hallowed turf surrounded by what is undoubtedly the finest arena in the world with a mystical wintry mist of precipitation falling from above (Eddie Everywhere?), it is easy to see how and why the club has chosen the path it has chosen.
Victoria Park will be a football ground for at least 10 more years and at present none of the structures will be demolished until year 6 and 7 of the council's grand plan. That will be 2011/12.
Victoria Park will only be a part of the Collingwood Football Club if enough of the membership wants it. At present the numbers are not good and the prospect of a Collingwood museum anywhere, let alone in the Syd Coventry Pavilion, are very remote, given that Eddie and Greg are understandably unwilling to send the club back down a path of financial instability.
This was my first AGM and the night was enjoyable. I was disappointed with the turnout, just 6% of the Social Club members turned out. Less than 1 in 16, but it filled the room so I guess this number was expected.
Willo was great and it is ironic that his poster and the team poster of 2003 are the only ones left in the old Social Club. Paul is still on that concrete support looking out over Victoria Park.
