Tyson Goldsack - thoughts?

Post by Seth »

I thought he did very well for his first game. Looked fairly composed at times and didn't panic. Once he adjusts to the pace he will be a good player for us in the backline and wing. Certainly did enough to deserve another game next week.

Started a tad nervous but who wouldnt.......The Higgins mistake when he led him under the ball on the wing was terrible, but he'll learn from that.

1st game, needs to find his feet, when he does should be a good player for us, big enough. Higgins knew he was quicker and used that against him.

As I've posted elsewhere.

The kid got toweled by a very impressive Higgings and was left on him for too long.

Having said that, Goldy certainly wasn't over-awed and did some nice things throughout the game, getting better as the game wore on.

Kid is raw, showed there is plenty to work with but also showed that there is still a fare way to go.

He didn't really have a right matchup against the dogs. He needed to have a man-marking role ala Cox against the Tigers, in his first match.

Despite a bad start, he did some good things towards the end.

His footskills are already evidently very good and his size is just perfect for a modern footballer. What impressed me about him was the way he learnt from the obvious error he made in the first quarter against higgins. He jumped too early, allowing his opponent to get goal side of him. Once the ball went over his head, higgins was able to run in and kick a goal.

Mick at quarter time went straight to goldy, pulled him to one side and showed him what to do next time. Incredibly, next time Tyson was in a contested mark situation, he took the mark and sent us forward for what i think was a goal. Obviously has a great head on his shoulders.

As i say, everyone needs atleast 2 weeks to settle in and goldy needs another run. I was impressed enough. Sometimes having an indredible debut is worst than having an average one.
There's more to life than footy.........just not much more.

Had a good debut - looked composed and wasnt overawed. Seemed to be a very similar player to Cox.

Did some nice things, made a couple of blues, but will only get better. He's a terrific size for a footballer and he seems to have the skill and speed to go with it. His major problem - in the short term - is that he'll be competing with Maxy and Cox for a spot in the team.
