Nick's site has finally outgrown the space we can allocate to it on our local server, so we're swapping servers.
Unfortunately the only server I have available with sufficient space is in the US. Unfortunate because moving the site off-shore will probably slow it down.
I've mirrored the site on the new server, but need some testing done. So if any of you have a bit of time on your hands and would like to help out please check the site out at its temporary address:
- http://nick.magpies.org/
We've tested it fairly exhaustively, but new eyes always find something that you miss.
I would like feedback on:
<OL TYPE=1>
[*]Speed - it will initially be slower because the pages are not cached on your machine, but subsequent visits to pages should be comparable with speed of the pages you visit here.
[*]Broken links
[*]Links that lead back to www.magpies.org.au/nick/ (this site), there should be none.
[*]Anything else you might notice that I haven't thought of.
[*]General comments or suggestions
[/list]
This is not going to be very exciting because, at this stage, the new site is an exact copy of this one, so you're not going to see anything different. In fact the ideal is that you don't notice any difference.
The Guest Book and Bulletin Board should both work in the new location, but remember that anything you might write in them will be deleted when and if the final transfer from here is done.
I will be exceedingly grateful for any feedback you can provide.
Thanks
Mike

Thanks for that. It seems to be ok. Surprisingly, we don't seem to have to make much of a speed sacrifice. I'll leave it sitting for a week or so, just to make sure it's stable.
We may have to turn the bulletin board off for a short period while we do the final transfer, but will give reasonable notice of that.
