Pendles would have to be a country mile ahead and a distant second would be Ryder, then Higgins.

Yer but Pearce and Raines also had very good seasons....at the moment...and purely on form in the first 10 rounds....no one is even close to Pendlebury

It will matter how they play in the second half of the year. Pearce off and it never Raines had better second halves than first. Heater was better than them all but still finished 3rd.
Get back on top.

Good to see Pendlebury now favourite at $3.00...He should be our first rising star (I know Buckley won it, but didnt win it with the pies)

I think Higgins is a strong chance.

Bruce mentioned Pendles as a chance during the call on Friday night, he's in with a real show.

As Tyson said, we haven't had any rising stars yet, so it would be nice.

I think Sav was the first ever nomination for us, could be wrong however.

I agree....Higgins is Pendles only real competition from what ive seen of Ryder. Not overly impressed, and on Anzac he sooked like a 2yr old.

Dont know about Higgins - he seems pretty average at this stage. The winner will be out of Ryder, Selwood and Pendlebury - whichever of them plays the best second half of the season. Just cant see anyone getting over Pendlebury at this stage though as he is ultra consistent.

agreed, Ryder gets beaten by any quality forward, and picks up very easy disposals...nothing of huge quality. However commentators and the media are talking him up as if he's biggest thing in football ever. Its obvious the media gets a hold of a player they like and can turn it anyway they want.

The media are yet to really make a big deal about Pendlebury, which ultimately i think is better for his footy.

Get off it Zaks and Dave - Ryder will be a star. Not overly impressed and nothing of huge quality - OMG!!

And Further:
Pendles was full back page of the Herald Sun on Saturday after we beat Richmond and has his own centre spread before the Bulldogs game.

Id hate to see him under exposed.
Stop posting utter cr*p.

He'd win it if it was held now, but more than anything I hope the media commentators that award the votes don't congregate beforehand and ensure they all vote the same way in order not to embarrass themselves. Pearce was a worthy winner (top 10 in clearances in an average team, a vital stat), but surely not all 'independent' voters thought he was #1 (received all 5's but one didnt he?). It just didn't seem that clear cut.

Gibbs, with his reputation, could give it a shake if he really gets his A game going in the second half of the season. Unfortunately (nothing against the kid, however I'd like to see consistency rewarded).

For mine, only the following can be considered;

Scott Pendlebury
Paddy Ryder
Joel Selwood
Jesse Smith
Shaun Higgins

Put down your glasses outside of that
