The remarkable thing about Goldsack is that he spent the TAC cup running up and down the wings for Gipsland. He began playing on the flank for Willy and rose above as one of the key players in the side.
Versatility is such a factor in todays game. Cox, Goldsack, O'Brien, Clement.
Coxy ceases to amaze me each week as to what position he is lining up in. Last week on the wing/rover. Previous week Half back. Other games FB or even Forward Pocket.
Goldsack, well the skys the limit. Pump the games into him, he just lacks experience for me to be completly confident in having this kid playing on the last line.
Harry's performance today hasnt really been mentioned. He shut down one of the hardest working CHF in the game.
Clement's similar to Harry. Can play FB, BP, tall, small, they do it all.
Going back to the drafting. What has impressed me is the fact that the recruiters have been bold and havent shy'd away from taking a risk.

Goldsack had a preseason with the Hawks before his last year at Gippsland. Not sure about being lucky to get picked up. Hawthorn obviously rated him and it would seem the pies rated him above Wellingham and Macaffer.ad4eva wrote:most definetly not.Dave The Man wrote:Wasn't Goldsack at Hawthorn Last Year!
he was playing his final year in the TAC cup for Gipsland Power.
He was overlooked the year Thomas and Pendlebury got drafted and was lucky to get picked up

To say I am extremely impressed by this giant of a kid would be a gross understatement.
I did rate him at Willi, but I had no idea he would have such an impact at this level.
Like his look-a-like Pendles he has so much time and makes excellent decisions under extreme pressure.

The "SACK"
Will this young man, Tyson Goldsack AKA "moneybags"finally get the recognition he so RICHLY deserves?
Vote 1 the SACK for this weeks NAB Rising Star.
Followed over the next few weeks by COX, chopper REID & maybe even Nathan Brown.

I think both the youngsters could stay in thier spots Tannin a nd Jimmy could pick up the resting tall forward , in the back pocket or hbf. Exciting times ahead.Tannin wrote:And, there in the background, we also see Harry wearing his man like a glove. These two players have transformed our backline. I mean, who would have thought that anytime in 2007 we would be sort of wondering what to do with Clement when he returns?
Hell, I'm half inclined to tell Harry he's got the CHB job and tell Goldy he's now a starting 18 defender no matter who else is fit, and play Jimmy on the HF flank! (Hey - he couldn't kick it much crookeder than our current forwards already do.)
From what I also hear, Cox put in another good game today, and Iles played his best-ever senior game, certainly got quite a bit of the footy.
Overall, at this stage of the season, you'd have to say that Goldie is the best of the debutants this year, and that's saying quite a bit when you consider that every one of them has looked a likely prospect (at worst) or a likely 100-game man (at best).
Go Goldie!
