A couple of times on Sunday I thought Pendles looked tired. It's only the kid's 2nd season and I think he's played every game, perhaps it was a factor in the turnovers, might've been a little flat

uuuuu..... The LoneSTAR wrote:I think an over confident player can be detrimental to the teams efforts,... on various levels. In general play, over confidence can brew a false sense of security and an inflated opinion of ones own skills.E.g - "I'll burn this bloke with my pace" [when the would be tackler is actually faster!] or "I'll pin point this pass to my team mate surrounded by the opposition on my non-preferred foot" [When he doesn't have a chance in all reality!!!!]

But, these players learn with experience what they can and cannot do. Look at Akermanis over the years. Mistakes are what cost you, not over confidence. The coach only sits you on the pine for mistakes, or for doing little.

Sorry, but i also disagree on your second point! You can't really generalise as people are different. Some will not lose their confidence no matter how hard people try to take it!!!!....others have no trouble losing it all on their own! Vice versa with regard to giving/building!!
You can't get confidence from someone else, it comes from your own success and not their words. You can get some belief, but that is not confidence. Confidence comes from repeated success.

However you can lose confidence if people denigrate you so that your doubt causes physical or mental lockups and leads to failure, which compounds the problem.

He's young, he's inexperienced, and he's trying. He'll make mistakes.

Most importantly, he'll learn from them.

Good news on Pendles

Post by Cam »

COLLINGWOOD midfielder Scott Pendlebury could return to football before the end of the home-and-away season, despite scans on Monday confirming a broken foot.

The Magpies had expected to lose the classy youngster until at least the start of the finals, after he sustained the fracture 10 minutes into Saturday night's loss to Brisbane at the MCG.

But scans showed the fracture was small, surgery was not needed and the Magpies now expect him to miss only two or three games.

With them saying 2 to 3 games could mean until mid-way next season! The club has just been full of lies this year on the injury front.
