A certain assistant chant leader, best known for his rendition of "Everywhere We Go", is in serious doubt for this week's important clash with St.Kilda.
It seems the ageing superstar of the terraces is suffering from stress fractures of the larynx after last weeks heroic battle against the Teal Blues. The strain of having to try to outbarrack 35,000 Port fans has taken its toll on our intrepid hero, who has been unable to train so far this week and is currently unable to speak above a hoarse whisper.
It was also feared that he might be suffering from concussion after a vicious head-high tackle from an opposition supporter. It was thought that the blow might have knocked some sense into him ... but he assures everyone that he is still as insane as ever and looking forward to the next confrontation with loudmouthed opposition ferals.
His absense, of course, would place a greater strain than ever upon our gallant captain, Joffa, who possibly may not have his vice-captain on hand to take over when he is too buggered to lead a chant.
A final decision will be made after a fitness test at banner-making on Thursday. But, at this stage, the Big Alf is only a 50-50 chance.
