Well done Cheersquad!

Post by ck_nd »

I was listening to the game on the radio (while I was at work today - it's on 702AM here in Sydney) and I could hear the cheersquad's chants for Collingwood clap clap clap Collingwood. And it wasn't just during the first quarter when we were doing well, most of the way through the game. (I wish the anti-Collingwood scum commentators would shut up so I could hear you guys better!)

I noticed your cheering most strongly when the Pies were down and after a dawks goal you would hear general cheering and then just when you would think the crowd would get quiet our cheersquad would pipe up!

Well done to all involved!

Go Pies!

Thanks, Carol.

And I just want to take this opportunity to repeat what I said to the Cheer Squad near the end of the match ... just to get it in writing and make it official.

I was very, very proud today. The Cheer Squad did The Club proud.

At one point I made a challenge. I said the further behind we go, the louder we've gotta be. And I got a fantastic response. It was absolutely the only way I could think of dealing with that situation. The only other alternative would have been to put my head in my hands and cry.

I haven't done this before ... but I give the Cheer Squad 10 out of 10 today. That was the best performance by the Cheer Squad for the year.

And our second half was our best half.

10 out of 10, Cheer Squad.

I love you all.

yep, we were great in the second half. but, in a way, i think it's easier to rev yourself up and start chanting when we're being slaughtered, rather than when we're maybe 4 or 5 goals down (as against geelong and sydney). after a while we were playing so badly it was great to let out some frustration via chants.
can't wait for the richmond game. that's our big test.

... I can't say i did too good today, I was just too upset, i didn't know whether to chant or cry, i think i got a bit of both happening in the end. Everyone else was grouse tho, i just couldn't get into it I guess...Image I know I should be chanting whether we win or lose, and I do more often than not.. but yesterday just hit me hard

you guys were sensational, esp. in the second half. after a hawthorn goal, you would wait until the hawthorn chants subsided, then counter with an even louder chant for collingwood. some hawthorn morons were pointing to the scoreboard, trying to bait and incite you. you just kept chanting, which was fantastic. the most stirring were the renditions of the theme song and you'll never walk alone towards the end. it reminded me of the chumbawamba song, "I get knocked down, but I get up again, you ain't never gonna keep me down." even the torrid of hawthorn goals couldn't silence you.

well done to the cheersquad!
