You mean a polaroid Joffa. Can you still get film for them?

I've got one lying around at home somewhere. If I can find it I'll send it over and you can keep it.

Instamatic - you're showing your age. I seem to remember them from my childhood.

Yep. I think we might be able to help. My flatmate reckons she's got one ... somewhere. She's currently doing a search of the house to see if she can find the damn thing. But yes. They still exist and you can still get film for them.

Ha Ha Ha Ha

I just read Mike's post. It seems this technology is so old that everyone's got one (at least everyone over 40) ... It's just that we all have to hunt through the cobwebs to find them.

By the way, from what my friend says, a polaroid camera IS an instamatic camera. She thinks "polaroid" is a brand name whereas "instamatic" is the generic term.

No Alf, you must remember the Kodak Instamatic.

The first camera to use self-threading cartridges (I think), the film was only 26mm and the frames on the negatives were square rather than rectangular. But it was normal film in the cartridge, you had to have it developed and printed - nothing instant about it. The prints were different too. They were square, obviously, and they contained two thumbnail images at the bottom of each full size print.

Now I'm the one showing his age.

Sorry, Mike ... I'm quite happy to concede victory to you in the Age Stakes.

By the way ... we still haven't found that camera.

It's definitely a polaroid, i.e. it develops the pictures itself. We just can't find it at the moment. Hope it hasn't decomposed with age. But then it probably hasn't ... I mean ... Mike hasn't decomposed yet.
