Even if West Coast were interested in trading Cousins they wouldn't wanna give him to Collingwood.
During the discussions surrounding Chris Judd's move. Trevor Nisbet said there's bad blood between West Coast and Collingwood and West Coast really aren't interested in dealing with us.
Judd probably decided to go to Carlton and not Collingwood because he was respecting the wishes of Nisbet and the West Coast Eagles.
I always loved watching Ben Cousins ever since he won the Rising Star in 96...but the only place you'll see Cousins in a Collingwood jumper is in your dreams.

I bet the bad blood would have turned into a 'yes please' had we offered them Pendles and Travis Cloke. Not saying we should have. Just saying WC wouldn't have worried about the bad blood if it suited them.tomoleary wrote: During the discussions surrounding Chris Judd's move. WCE have to clean their act up over summer or they will finish up without a sponsor the way they are going.
It would not surprise me to see them trade or delist Cousins.
If he went to another culb and was found to be still up to his old habits then it would not tarnish the image of his new club as much as it would if it happened again to WCE.

I have a lazy eye and I think it is now spreading throughout the rest of my body

Show me where Nisbett suggested there was bad blood?tomoleary wrote:During the discussions surrounding Chris Judd's move. Trevor Nisbet said there's bad blood between West Coast and Collingwood and West Coast really aren't interested in dealing with us.
The reason the Eagles ruled out Collingwood is that we dont have the Draft pieces and were unlikely to trade the calibre of player that they wanted. (which is a pretty fair assessment).
I think its naive to assume that just "bad blood" would rule out a trade if the Pies were able to offer significantly more than Carlton. (And unfortunately, I dont think the Pies were ever going to offer more than what Carlton will give up for Judd).

On Cousins -
If we are able to get him in the PSD or a very cheap trade (ie. Lonie or Holland) AND his salary is small and with appropriate clauses (ie. Pies can rip up his contract at anytime) - then I say go for it.
The guy has his issues, and theres always a big chance that he wont lost another 6-12 months in the AFL.
I dont have worries about his body that others may have. He broke down at the end of this season just because he had taken so much time away from the game. If he gets a proper preseason under his belt I reckon he's got the fitness to play at least 3-4 more years at a top level.
Oh, and just thought Id add:
I reckon Ben would really hate to see himself in any jumper than the Blue-and-Gold. His whole life he was always going to be an Eagle. If he is not going to be on the Eagles list, you would have to question whether his desire to keep playing footy is enough to outweigh his feelings towards WCE.

I dont know about fitter, coz the guy has always been superfit. I just think he was more focused. He wanted the ball every time and was sure as hell gonna do something productive with it each time.nulla wrote:When he came back from his rehab I actually thought he looked fitter than ever before and was not looking forward to him and Judd playing together.
