I thought Gout was usually associated with swelling?

There's no swelling around the ankle at all and the pain is localised to where I injured it years ago, which is why i'm thinking I've either agravated something or it's arthritis.

Gout is not a swelling issue at all. It is caused by acid in the blood which form into crystals and deposit themselves in the extremities of the body. Typically feet/toes or hands/fingers.
I never had gout until one day when I was building a shed extension. My right ankle started to hurt and I thought I must have twisted it. Within 24 hours I could not put weight on it. Untreated, after 3 days I could not even let a sheet be put on it.
Easily controlled by "Indocid", which is also a very good anti-inflammatory if needed.
I haven't had a gout attack for almost 2 years, so looks like it may have been a transient thing.

I'll keep an eye on it, thanks. It's better today than it was yesterday and have no issue touching it. It will take weight depending on how I stand. I've been walking around markets this morning alternating hobbling like a cripple with walking normally trying to find a gait that doesn't hurt.

Member I was a biggy on Indocid thought it was great until my Doctor prescribed to me Colgout. Colgout is much better treats gout faster. However, one of the side effects can be an attack of the shits. But i can handle running to the toilet much better than the excruciating pain of gout.

Still nothing beats a good diet. Ever since I changed my eating habits(mainly cutting soft drinks) have not had an attack for over 16 months now.

Very true BW. I to suffered the side effect of Colgout that you described.
There is a half bottle of said drug in my medicine cabinet, just in case.
Interesting your comments on diet. When I was first diagnosed I asked the quack if I had to modify my drinking/eating habits. He said no! But online results certainly say that you need to.
I would not wish a gout attack on my worst enemy.

Judge Sarah Bradley is renowned up here for her totally inadequate sentences. She is a part of the reason we have gangs of thugs roaming the streets day and night. If they get caught, they go before her, get a slap on the wrist, laugh at the law then go out and continue their behaviour.
Maybe now that this judge has made national news, a journo somewhere may sift through her past efforts at sentencing and do a story on the subject. It would make interesting reading........pathetic, but interesting.
