Question for the Mods.

Can we make a new rule that nobody can take a post from another fan site and post it on Nick's without the express permission of the originator of the post?

Hopefully, that would stop all the BF bullshit ending up on Nicks.

So no more posts passed on from LSD?
member over there gets a lot of good stuff but how practical is it to get permission each and every time?
I suppose also that permission would be required from all AFL sites, newspaper sites etc, etc.
Sorry to ramble, but I can only see this as a thin edge of the wedge situation. Where is the line drawn?

no, i was on another site once and someone posted one of my posts from that site on this site......wasn't something i wanted posted on here. Plus, i always state my copyright on my posts anywhere.

But......how hard is it to pm the author of the other site and ask them? Most of the posts that appear on this site from BF, don't even credit the BF user name with the post.

You'll find, you can't post anything from the official AFL sites, you must provide the link to them.

Newspaper articles provide the link.

PP, a rule is already in place for that type.
Members are asked to respect the copyright of other users, sites, media, etc. Copies of articles from media sites should carry full attribution - author, publisher, date, link. Copies of posts on other bulletin boards should credit the original author and bulletin board. Articles originating on any site published by Telstra (official AFL and club sites) are not to be reposted on this board - post a link to the article instead.

also a rule against backseat moderating, never stops you tho.

PP perhaps a rule that stop post from BF only, I'd be happy with that, every year it seems someone post all the garbage from there on here.

Not all BF posts are full of rubbish. Some of the training and match reports can be of value.

This sounds like a knee jerk idea to me.
How would Siri know when to answer "Hey Siri" unless it is listening in to everything you say?

If I didn't want people on Nicks to see something, I wouldn't be posting it on another site in the first place

Very hard in some cases. You cannot PM someone who has you on their ignore list.

People on Nicks draw quotes and articles on many diverse subjects from many other sites. I believe that to try to stifle this is wrong. If you don't want to read stuff from BigFooty, for example, just don't read it.

If I'm guessing correctly about which thread has been the catalyst for this thread (the Maxwell/Lockyer episode), the first words in the first post of that thread are "From BF" ...... there's your signal. Just don't read it.

More or less, they should be judged on the relevance. Hard news? Yeah. Training reports/news? That's ok too. If it's rubbish from BF (or elsewhere) without substance, it goes.

FWIW, there is some good stuff on Big Footy. Not necessarily a lot by volume but there is some.

Maybe the issue is more about posting unsubstantiated rumour and inuendo from other bulletin boards.

that's your opinion and you are welcome to it, personally I don't want to read rubish, and 99% of the bf posts on here over the last ten years have been rubish.
you are more than welcome to read BF, I choose not to and can't see why I should have to sift through the crap that comes from there.
this is a very old argument about the same old shit, every time a new bf fanboy signs up here we have to put up with it and go through all this again and again and again and again.............
