I think when people see a P plater in a new car, they think "spoiled brat - mummy and daddy bought it for them".leelee wrote:I hate people that judge me because i am in the last 9 months of having my P plates and just purchased a brand new car...
Everyone keeps making me feel guilty by saying 'oh i've never had a brand new car' and it just makes me feel like saying... well work your arse off and maybe you too could afford it!
I mean just cause i'm on P plates doesn't mean i'm gonna smash is to smitherines...
I've already been driving for over 2 years on my p's, and had 2 years and over 500 hours practice on my learners...
sorry just really needed to vent...
If you worked for it and that was what you wanted, then good on you.
Personally, I've never had a new car and have no desire to buy one. The moment you drive a new car off the lot, you wipe off a large chunk of it's value. To me, a car is something to get you from point A to point B. It's a consumable item like a TV or washing machine that you're going to have to replace eventually. I'd rather buy a good quality 2nd hand car, look after it for 5-6 years then junk it and do it again. I'm currently on my 6th car in 25 years, one of which I gave to my ex wife. Current one is a VS commodore which I paid $6500 cash for.Don't have to worry about comprehensive insurance, the occasional scratch or ding in the supermarket car park or anything.
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

hmmm .... it has now infiltrated her bones, spine and lungs. unfortunately the outlook is less than ordinary. they'll get married tomorrow and hopefully it will be a wonderful celebration. they have an 18 month old son too.David wrote:That really is terrible.
Puts a few things in perspective, I suppose.
Hope things work out for her.
