IT WASN'T just St Kilda that proved that Geelong was beatable yesterday. Collingwood proved it was thrashable, at least at VFL level, when the Cats' VFL side went down by 150 points to a Collingwood reserves squad packed with AFL players.

But don't get too excited, Pies fans. The Collingwood team that ran out yesterday has close to 1000 games of AFL experience. Geelong's team had exactly none.

COLLINGWOOD was officially listed as playing a practice match against West Coast on the other side of the country yesterday. But instead many of its senior players ventured an hour down the highway to Skilled Stadium for a gentle hitout against Geelong reserves.

The VFL practice match featured 11 senior-list Magpies - Alan Didak, Harry O'Brien, Martin Clarke, Tarkyn Lockyer, Josh Fraser, Travis Cloke, Tyson Goldsack, Shane Wakelin, Heath Shaw, Jaxson Barham and Shane O'Bree, who tossed the coin.

Geelong's team contained just four young senior-list players and two rookies - and not one member of last year's VFL premiership outfit. The result was a 150-point win to Collingwood 3.5.23 to 26.17.173.
Neither paper really knows what happened, as highlighted by the following:

In the Real Footy report, we have:
Collingwood's 2007 best-and-fairest winner Cloke was best on ground, according to coach Gavin Brown, with four goals and 18 marks.
whilst in the Super Footy report:
Cloke was a standout, kicking three goals and taking 16 marks.
