Give me Gary's phone number & I will call him. Infact, I'll do one even better, I'll yell it out when he's gonna be blitzing against us on my Birthday.
I'm sure he's SUPER gutted. His team is 7-0 & look like being a threat again this year. As if he's REALLY gonna say I don't want to play! Get real!
I'm sure the GEEL faithful would've been EVER so pleased had he been in the side & done an injury which ended his season.
I'm sure he'll still be stewing over his decision not to play for VIC next time he takes the field.
Hhhhmmm, now let's see, state pride or a premiership? Go ask Gary Ablett Snr. which one he'd prefer.
All players play for a premiership, not State bloody pride! Even the great Bobby Skilton himself said he would rather give back his Brownlow medals for just ONE premiership. And if I'm not wrong, I think I recall Buckley saying something similar.
Anyways, I hope Josh has good news with his scans & comes back sooner rather than later. We're lacking on-fielad leadership as it is.

Injuries happen... they get them at training.
Some players are lucky and can be injury free for a few years, others not.
Most games though these days do result in one or two injuries... thats part of football and they know this before they pull on the Guernsey be it for whatever reason that is part of their football program.

And how many of the players from both sides last night will also take to the field next week.He "AINT" gonna be doing anything siting in the stands for the next 10 or so.
But Griffith will certainly take the field next week now, won't he?
Josh would not have got that injury if he was playing bad and sitting on the bench... it shows he was giving it all doing something he desired to be part of.
If no one had of got named from Collingwood there would have been a number of threads asking as to why we missed.

Josh was very anxious leading into the Victorian game. A Collingwood premiership is all that matters to the big fella and he knows as well as anyone that it is mickey mouse games like these that accidents happen.
Do I recall correctly that we lost Diacs to a knee or ankle injury in a Victorian game in the 80's?
To play or not to play? The suits all push the event for the money, but the players are focussed on playing for their club.
Personally my soccer career ended prematurely playing a practice game for my club against Victoria back in 1991. To have shreaded my ankle the way I did, for absolutely nothing, left me gutted and I left the game.

Of course you can voice your opinion Annodam. Just don't complain when you get told your opinion is shit because it is plainly wrong. Seriously, you couldn't have picked a worst side than Geelong to demonstrate that 'smart clubs' don't risk players in inconsequential games like this. 11 players... At you not with you.ANNODAM wrote:I can write what I damn well want. It's my opinion & I will voice it if I feel like it!

Was fantastic to watch the best players go around last night, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, and watching the Collingwood boys mix it with the best, and all 4 can hold there heads high, all played great games.
The exposure they get from playing with the best players is invaluable, especially to there confidence.
Anyone who can't see the upside to this format and what it means is very narrow minded. The players that got picked in those squads immediately have a sense of being, they are up there with the best, and they can take that forward with them and try and pass the confidence gained onto other players, and other players will therefore strive harder to one day be recognised as good enough to represent there state, or team. Playing for a premiership is fine, but to get selected out of all the players from every club to take part in a Tribute match takes more then getting selected in the best 22 from your own club. Take Dale Thomas for example. His almost a walk up start in our 22, but he didn't get a game for the Big V, and you can bet he would of liked to. So hopefully this will give him the nudge he needs to make him a better player for the rest of his career, until he is good enough to be selected.
People need to not look for the negatives all the time and start searching for positives, because there are a lot of them out there.

Good try frankiboy - but somehow I think someone still just doesnt get it...frankiboy wrote:You still don't get it, do you? It's not about you, it's all about THEM, and right about now one of THEM needs our support, not getting shit canned for being involved with something HE wanted to be a part of, which is essentially what you're doing. Yeh, you have a right to an opinion, as I have a right to question or criticise that opinionANNODAM wrote:I can write what I damn well want. It's my opinion & I will voice it if I feel like it!
I do NOT agree with these exhibition type games cause they're SHIT!
I am devastated Josh is injured because of this STUPID & I repeat STUPID unecessary game!
If he's out for 10 weeks, whose going to help Wood out in the ruck? I don't see anyone in our VFL side putting their arm up either.
I don't care about big Vs, little Vs & so forth, all I care about is a *&^*(&%$% premiership!
We all know how much we missed Josh last year in that PF. Had he been in that side, we would've beaten GEEL easily!
If you read over any of my posts, I have never EVER bagged ANY CFC player no matter how badly they play. I believe in showing my support, but will NEVER support the trash that was presented on TV last night.
Injuries can happen anywhere, sure its rotten luck for us and for Josh - nothing we can do about it - lets move on and focus on the Saints this week.

Latest reports seem to indicate that the injury may be nto be as bad as first thought. He will have tests and if its okay he may only be out for a week or two.
PS Re Thommos post: Great post! I agree with you entirely.
