hmm. Fair point Franki. Let's just say I'm happy that government at the federal level looks like it might be finally re-ordering its priorities back somewhere towards where they should be after 12 years of crap...Oh and nice to see some sunshine as well.

nomadjack wrote:Love this bullshit about choice - like many low income earners can choose if they want to take out health insurance or not, or if they will send their children to private school. As far as I'm concerned access to decent health services and education shouldn't be determined by the size of you wallet. It's a basic right of citizenship and should be accessible by all.

Taking off the levy is a good start. Hopefully the 30% rebate on private insurance is next. Put the $3 billion plus it costs into the public system rather than lining the pockets of the insurance companies

I don't care what it costs, on principle I will never pay for health insurance while others are denied access to decent services.

Hopefully Rudd will target the ridiculous level of government funding for private schools next.
i agree to some extent with your last point re govt funding for private schools. they are having a bob each way charging extortionate fees but also going cap in hand.

i'm often surprised by people who moan about not being able to afford holidays and other luxuries etc when in fact they have made a choice to have children, buy a house, run two cars and send them to private schools.

with every choice comes a consequence and a potential subsequent sacrifice.

an oldie but a goodie ...
How the fight started!

Officer, this is how the fight started...
I rear-ended the car in front of me. I admit that. It was my fault.

So, we both pull over to the side of the road,

And slowly the driver of the car I hit gets out of his car. . .

And you know how you just-get-sooo-stressed... And life...

Sometimes life seems like... Suddenly funny?

Well, the driver of the car I hit is a DWARF!

He gets out of his car and I get out of my car.

He is frowning and scowling and he storms over to me.

Right up close at me he looks up in my face and says, 'I AM NOT HAPPY!'
And I don't know what possessed me, officer, but I look down at him and I
Said,

'Well, if you're not Happy -- which one are you?'

..... And that's when the fight started...
