suggestion for cheer squad - re geelong cheer squad methods
wanted to put forward a suggestion to the cheer squad
We never seem to chant "collingwood, clap clap clap, collingwood, clap clap clap" anymore
This is the chant that is AFL specific - it is classic and all the fans love it - it sounds awesome and we have the biggest number of supporters but no atmosphere.
When Collingwood played Geelong - even when we were thumping them every 5 minutes the squad would start this classic chant -- and it spread.
The only time I hear the Collingwood version is when average supporters start the chant.

LOL crap topic but funny responses! Personally, my favourite chant is that one that goes "COOO-LIIIIIIING-WOOO-OOOOOOD, COOO-LIIIIIIING-WOOO-OOOOOOD". You know the one, right? It's really long and drawn out and when everyone does it together it just has this haunting echoing kind of sound. It's unreal!
Pirate skulls and bones
Sticks and stones and weed and bombs
Running when we hit 'em
Lethal poison through their system

Red Flag Chant... see if this doesn't send shivers down your spine... http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=JoTaUXM-kPM
- "Number 42? I see you've got Darren Millane in the Heaven footy side"
- "No that's God. He just tries to play like Millane"

Fergus,
The Collingwood chant is done more than you realise, not sure how often by the CS but it maiunly gets going after a goal.
In defence of the CS, they are on a hiding to nothing, always have been and always will be until people like you actually get involved and help with the chanting. Having been a former chant leader, i too was on a hiding to nothing. If i didnt chant because the game was on, i copped it from all angles and when i did start chants, i copped it because they were tired old chants. Any new chants were looked upon with disdain interest as the oldies didnt know the words and didnt want too. The CS has been, for a long long time now, just a great spot to sit and watch the footy while a few dozen try to get the barackers shouting. I have sympathy for the CS when chanting as there are people trying but due to the dead wood so to speak, they can only go so far. It would help, as discussed in many threads previously if the bays either side joined in. Maybe it is time for the CS to request the front half of 2 bays and sit 4-6 chant leaders amonsgt them?
Another idea is to move all the old, no voice people that just enjoy sitting there and move them to the back and bring the young vibrant 1's to the front half. you would only need to stick 6 or so in the back half to at least get them going along and hope their hands come out from under their blankets.

We are the premiers
The mighty premiers
and we are mental, and we are mad
we are the loyalist, football supporters
the world has ever had.
