Rowdy may no go onto being a senior coach either at collingwood or at any other club for that matter, but where he will be better at it than "UNSHAW" is that he was a development coach at the AFL for many years and also he has the opportunity to learn under a coach who is a forward thinker and is NEW to the CLUB. UNSHAW's problem was that he spent so long at the one club, and only moderaterly successful through that time but played for a long time under the same coach who in the end was devoid of ideas and modern tactics... with UNSURE all we were getting was a clone of mathews. Now i do hope rowdy one day coaches THE CLUB at senior level but i hope he has the opportunity to be involved as an assistant at another (successful) club to gain an outside collingwood view before coming back....

It was officially announced last week (or even the week before) that Crosisca will be an assistant coach at Arden St.
In terms of Shaw's / Rowdy's coaching ability, I'm firmly of the opnion that in order to become a good coach you must LEAVE your original club for at least 2 years, and be an assistant elsewhere. This gives you a far better grounding in the different ways that things can be done.
I htink Shaw's biggest mistake was in not accepting Carlton's offer to become an Assistant Coach there. I think he knew that Leigh was on the way out, saw the opportunity would come soon and wanted to keep a hand in whwat was going on at Vic Park, when he would have been netter off expereincing a different club, even for only one year.
Even if it was Carlton.
I hope Rowdy sticks with us for a few years to help mentor the younger players, but if he's loking at senior coaching that he does get some experience elsewhere first. I think it will be better for him and us.

oh god is it necessary to bring up Shawry again??? I don't think it is a hell of a lot to do with just getting in a new coach these days i reckon its better the coach stays with the team actually, rather than chopping and changing like the Saints always do. Look at Sheedy he's been there since the year some players were bloody born and look how successful they r. We however changed coaches and moved up one notch on the ladder great guys!

Okay Spidergirl - I am rapt at Rowdy being appointed Assistant Coach , but not as excited as you mentioned I would be!!!
Rowdy, being the most genuine player around, will die at Collingwood - unless they do the dirty on him!! He has Collingwood in his blood and I dearly hope that he will always be there. ROWDY FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER AND EVER!!!!
