What pisses you off?

LOL, I've been using "cheers" as my ending since I had email at work. I don't even want to think how long ago that was.

But definitely much more formal where I am, even though you can read between the lines.

Some of them I'm educating, that lack of formality comes natural to a few once they get the hang of it.

don't you work in an HR department? you guys are the most formal of the lot,

you're the type to write something like

Dear Mr. X,

What pisses me off? Being told that we've been voted the best law firm and best corporate services firm in the country as well as the most expensive in the country and then getting a pittance of a pay rise. Not happy Jan. NOT HAPPY.

its just that my sis is graduating this year and has got a job with what she says is the best law firm in the country. i want to know if she's lying, haha

you usualy find it's the older generation who still use the salutation of 'dear ...' when writing their emails.

yeh exactly i always try and mix it up. but i dont experiment with anything too weird lol so you'd never catch me saying oorroo,

what had me pissed off this morning especially was a little exchange between i and my boss, and he was asking me to do something, and i didnt want to do it so i was telling him it cant be done. and so we went for about 10 or 15 emails, and the bloody thing is the way it starts off like, Dear...Kindly, Best Regards etc and it just reaches a point where its like GODDAMN JUST DO THE F^&#KEN THING!!! haha not in so many words but you could sense the tension.

the best part is my cubicle is right outside his office, and when he finally stepped out to go to the loo or something we gave each other the most awkward look haha

it reminded me of that joke between the navy ship and the lighthouse carrier

I've had to finish working in order to look after my mother more, she has dementia and she only has me to rely on. She has her good days and bad, the other day it was funny as I heard her telling someone on the phone how cold it had been all day and the heater had been on full all day, when in fact it had been a great day and the heater had been off most of the day. Sad thing is the person mum was chatting to doesn't have a grasp of mums illness or how difficult dementia is to live with. They seem to think I am making it up and that I am blaming others for me being sole person to look after our mother.

With one sibling in another state and another 200 kms away I guess thats normal, well thats what the experts we see for her condition tell me. They see it all the time.

Like Magpie Greg, I can relate.

My mother had to look after my Dad when he went downhill. He had a few minor strokes which effected his mobility and also his thinking. He physically couldn't do what he used to do but lacked the ability to understand it anymore. He deteriorated over a couple of years, and I was one who never realised how bad he was getting because whenever I went up or the kids went up to stay, he'd lift himself for the occasion. Only to fall back further each time we left.

he never got violent or got full on demntia, but he'd do things like get up at 3 in the morning, decide to make breakfast, then forget how to do it. He pulled the chainsaw apart to service it and couldn't remember how to put it back together. Mum was terrified of him driving, so she made him promise not to, but every now and then, he;d forget and jump in the ute to go and get the newspapers. I pulled the rotar button out of the distributer one visit and even though he'd promised not to try to drive it, he damn near pulled the engine apart trying to start it. (never figured out what was missing).

Toward the end, she was showering and dressing him and he was starting to not get to the toilet on his own. He never watched TV all his life, except the ABC news and the cricket, now he couldn't read so all he could do was sit in the lounge room and watch SKY news over and over. After having to get the community nurse in to help her pick him up after several falls, she finally had to give upand put him into the local hospital. The Doctor was amazed she'd coped with him for so long. He died 3 weeks later.


You're doing a great job but don't be afraid to ask for help. There's plenty of it around, and don't feel upset when people don't understand. It's something you have to live through to fully get it.

speaking of law firms, my uncle (Dennis Heslin) has/had a firm down in Melbourne with a couple of guys... are you familiar with the name Jacqui? Is there some exclusive lawyer society where everyone knows each other?
