Chris Dawes with 11 marks at CHF and 3 goals was very improved effort and positive signs for the future :)

A fashion statement.

The commentators were wondering if someone's tea cosy had gone missing!

Very impressed with the forward line today... Dawes, Anthony and Macaffer all took 10+ marks and kicked 3, 3 and 5 goals. Most of the marks were good strong one-grab marks.

Shannon Cox was disappointing...he is good when zoning off and running out of defense but when ever he is in a 1-on-1 contest he is hopeless.

Chris Egan has so much talent but just lacks determination and hardness at the ball.

Iles was Iles...gets a fair bit of ball but isn't very polished.

Cook worked hard and could make it at AFL level.

Stanley just seems a step or two too slow.

Thoolen looked a lot better today than other times I have seen him.

Dyas is still a work-in-progress but does some nice things.

McCarthy, Casey-Leigh and Presti were no-shows.

Apparently Presti didn't pass a last minute fitness test.

Dimattina was bought in for his debut game.

I liked the look of several players.

Dawes. First time I've seen much of him this year, impressed me. Got a bit to go yet but the tools seem all there.

Macaffer looked very good. Strong overhead, can move, nice size (although 187 isn't tall, it's not munchin territory).

JA looked very good again. Versatile player, forward or back he has a crack, strong overhead and a good lead and kick when playing forward.

I don't know who the hell Yahman is, but the son-in-law christened him Sanka. (you need to have seen "cool runnings" to get the gag).

Interersting time at selection for the seniors. With Reid and Rocca out, we need another key forward or two in the side. JA would have the edge on size and strength on Caff, but it will depend on how MM wants to structure.
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

This is a very good summary and close to the way I saw things. Macaffer won the ABC BoG. I was impressed with the number of contested marks taken by Chris Dawes, and that is the best kicking for goal I have seen from him since that 7 goal Willy game last year. I think he might be worth a punt in the big time. John Anthony was very impressive and has to get a call-up. Disappointed about Presti, and I assume he will not be an option for the Sydney game (since he really needed match fitness).

What can I say about Cox and Egan that hasn't already been said by many others? Cox did nothing today to warrant serious consideration (Goldsack is clearly the better player). Apart from the smother and goal of the day by Chris Egan, he is simply too lazy to use the talents he has. You can tell by just looking at his body that he doesn't work hard enough. Compare the chiselled look of Macaffer with Egan's body? Even old Paul Licuria (good game BTW) has a more impressive and fitter body than Egan. If I'm not mistaken he is certain to be delisted at the end of the year.

A good win. I agree the umpires were disgraceful (our way for a change, but pathetic nonetheless). And Rowdy's 3/4 quarter time speech showed he is also growing in confidence. Well done boys! :D

Oh BTW Tilly Yahman would have to grow about 15 centimetres to be considered for AFL selection. The days of Paul Callery are long past. Sadly, for short people, but a fact of life.

Rapt the boy's had a win today and it was a very good contest

Totally agree on the comments with regards to Cox and Egan; out on their own they can do a few things but not to good in a contest. IMO Egan is not only lazy but soft at least Cox doesn't seem to mind crunching or getting crunched.

A good win and great to see some of our forwards playing well, but let's not get too carried away as Box Hill are one of the worst teams in the VFL.
