Rd 18 ABC-TV Game - GAWN!

Post by Dale61 »

The Rd18 clash against Tasmania, originally scheduled to be an ABC-TV game is no longer a TV game, and with that, the start time has been re-scheduled for 2 pm.

Given our lack of performance (and Tassie's disappointing year), I think they can afford to ignore us Dave. The ABC doesn't exist to provide video footage of our reserves team, but to offer the viewers a real footy contest. I'm afraid we've failed on all counts this year.

Three things that must happen if Collingwood is serious about making the VFL option a success:

1. Move from Princes Park back to Victoria Park. It gives the young players a sense of history and we don't pay the Scum any rent.
2. Sign up a few seasoned hard-nuts from the VFL to give our young side a bit of toughness and competitiveness.
3. Sorry to have to say this, but find a new coach.

If we do that, the ABC may coming knocking again next year Dave.

The ABC have always had the option to change what they cover, and in past years, they have opted for games that have some bearing on the final 8.

The game that is replacing this one is the Port Melbourne v Williamstown game, which could determine top spot. There are rumours that this could be the game that sees Ben Cousins make his return to footy.

Good call Dale61. I suspect you're right about the ABC's thinking. I think we'd pick that game as well.

My bad.

The Port v Williamstown game is actually Rd17, with the Rd18 game (replacing the Coll v Tas game) being Nth Ballarat v Nth Bullants.

Nothing yet has been decided for Rd's 19 & 20, but if I was making that decision, I would go for the Casey v Coburg game (Rd19), with Rd20 being the Sandringham v Nth Ballarat game.

So, if things remain as they are, next week will be the last time the Collingwood VFL team will be seen on TV when they travel down the highway to play Geelong at Unskilled Stadium.
