i think some of us (including myself) forget how much of an important cog in the side brodie when he was at his best playing that annoying midfielder role who could also kick a goal or few. unfortunatly that is probably the end of him. sad
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

I think he might stay. When you look at who goes you would have to think that;
Wakes or Presti will go. Cannot see both being kept and need to press ahead with Brown and Anthony in KD posts.
Iles - No doubt he will go. He is close to a game but cannot push into the best 22 when 8 are out. Shame.
Johnson - have no doubt he will be traded and I can see them keeping Dutchy irrespective if he goes.
Egan - Would like to see him kept and Dids being traded would be key to his chances.
Didak - think he will go.
R.Shaw - all the mail is the Pies will move him on. I am against it as I think its the only stuff up rhyce has made and it would be double standards to trade him and keep Heath.
Lonie - The stamp was licked Thursday night. If he cannot get a game when we are playing 13 blokes under 21 he is in strife.
Cox - Bit surprised he hasnt been selected as he suits the modern game but he clearly aint highly thought of.
So i think thats 8 (suspect I am missing someone - oh yes Toovey but I think MM loves him). Couldnt see them trading any more than that and it also assumes Burns plays on. Either way the above is plausible and it suggests Brodie stays. We have a young side and will need some stronger bodies around the contests. The only downside for Brodie would be if we got Cousins.

Does anyone else feel that the Brodie Holland story ended really quickly? It seemed like he was such a required player, and then so suddenly he wasn't.
I was very eager for him to come back this year, but sadly it never happened.
Good luck Brodes, so many good memories.

Injuries and probably disciplinary issues caught up with him, but mainly injuries. Achilles problems have finished many a career before Dutchy's almost overnight.mandy wrote:Does anyone else feel that the Brodie Holland story ended really quickly? i hope we give him another chance, maybe a one year contract.
with so many young midfielders with positional flexibility, i think it would be a good idea keeping a midfielder his experience, even if he cant crack into the side if the youngsters step up, he would be a great back up.
also i like his attitude - from where i sit, he looks like he'd be a good role model to the younger kids.

Knowing Freo's prowess at the trade table, we'll probably trade Dutchy to Freo for Rhyce Palmer and Pavlich
