I tend to agree, Johno will be back in 2009.nulla wrote:Eddie said late this season that Ben is a valued player at Collingwood.
I cannot see him going anywhere... apart form the Lexus centre and getting stuck into a long pre season.

If so, can only see him filling a role like Holland or Lonie did this year.
I think it'd be better for everyone if he was moved on at the end of the year. Has been a good player for us, but doesn't seem to fit in our future plans, and giving him a year as a forgotten man in the VFL would be unfair.

I think your confusing yourself with the meanings of "forgotten player", "future plans" and "current form".David wrote:If so, can only see him filling a role like Holland or Lonie did this year.

Fair enough, but is it just a lapse in form? Surely it's an ominous sign when a senior player without any injury concerns can't break into the team for almost two months on end.nulla wrote:I think your confusing yourself with the meanings of "forgotten player", "future plans" and "current form".David wrote:If so, can only see him filling a role like Holland or Lonie did this year.

if you look at his stats on his last game and two games before that they were his worse stats for the year... ontop of I might add a not to good year before those games.
Ben just has not found form and for someone of his class I think he will be back showing his true worth in the magpie colours.

The question is would he want to stay after not being selected for so long?nulla wrote:Eddie said late this season that Ben is a valued player at Collingwood.

Only way I see him staying is if he agrees that his fitness and form did not warrant selection and he has the determination to turn that around. Otherwise, he'll leave out of disgruntlement, or be let go.

about the same time all the critiques here on Nicks did, only problem is that Eddie had the chance to speak his mind on TV and his word for some reason goes a little further than yours or mine

Don't get me wrong people, i value the art of kicking VERY HIGH!!!... it's a defining skill in our game that i cannot believe how many people don't really appreciate. Having said that, an in form Ben Johnson with his experience, mature body and physical style of hard running play could add plenty of worth to our current team!!
