Cousins is 30 and has potentially soft tissue issues. (hamstrings). He could break down straight away or he could play til he's 36 like Harvey.
On the issue of his character, at least he's admitted (finally after some serious messups) that he has a problem and is working on it, unlike Kerr who was eating horse tranquilisers.
I'll leave it up to the club to do the due diligence and make the decision.

Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

I'm happy to take on Cousins.
He would have to pass a lot of stringent testing by the AFL to be suitable for a footy club.
I think that demonstrates how committed he is to playing football again.
He could easily take his money and live on some coke mountain in Colombia, but no, he wants to play footy and he's done a lot to get this far.

Cousins names Collingwood as his choice !
Breaking news this morning on SEN stated that Ben Cousins will nominate for the psd draft and the club of his choice is COLLINGWOOD !!!!!.
Now he has chosen collingwood as his likely destination, but it is up to the pies to now decide as to whether they will take him.
Also i have also heard rumours that Scottuy Burns will retire. If that is the case, then i reckon Cousins will be a pie next year.
Sydney have also stated they are intersted in Kerr or Didak if either were up for trade.Fun and games before trade day folks.

Not surprised, and since we'll still have Mick as coach next year, he'll be a good mentor for Cousins. I agree he is a risk, but there are some things that should be considered:
1. Ben Cousins has not been charged with any offence at any time. Unlike another high profile AFL club "official".
2. His personal drug demons seem to be under control, and he knows Mick very well. This respect will help him keep on track.
3. Ben Cousins is a wonderful footballer who has a lot to prove to the public.
4. Our current midfield is a rabble. We need a champion leader in there to go anywhere.
5. Cousins might have another three or four years left in him.
Therefore, I think the risk is worth taking. Ben might just prove to be the best recruit for any club in 2009.
One more thing: If we do get Cousins we would be stupid to trade Didak. My guess is Didak now stays at Collingwood. (Before some people jump all over me for changing my mind, I do think flexibility is a virtue in changed circumstances.)
Cousins and Didak feeding our forwards - I'd like to see that!
